Want to upgrade memory on my laptop

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
Hello!
I got a dell vostro 1540 with 2GB of DDR3 memory Nanya NT2GC64B88G0NS-CG
I want to buy 2GB DDR3 Kingston -> http://www.adm.hr/product_info.php?cPath=258_217_160_164&products_id=8168&osCsid=e9a07799d265f70ff4e2f8ce99d129ad this one.
My question is , would that work? I know the memory brand is different , but i'm not sure on which latencies does either one of those run actually...

Im pretty sure this is the ram here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139049 (shows the latency and other specs)

You can check your memory specs with CPUZ or a similar program, check your ram voltage and timings. if they are the same you are ok, but if the ram timings are higher on one or the other sticks it will run at that slower latency.

That kingston is cas latency 9 @ 1.5v , run CPUZ and click the memory tab and look for cas latency, then click the SPD tab and at the bottom it will show you the voltage.
