I know I messed around with 486s, but the earliest one I remember, is turning a Pentium 60 up the massive amount of 6Mhz so as to turn it into a Pentium 66. Next major one I remember was, of course the Celeron 300, I know I got that over 400MHz, and then an ABit BP6 with a pair of Celeron 433, but they wouldn't clock the same sadly... had to live with 466MHz out of those.

Pentium II--450MHz OC'd ALL THE WAY up to 600MHz with the magical dip switches! I was so stoked when I discovered overclocking and then actually figuring out which combination of switch settings worked. wheee.gif

I don't even remember what chip it was exactly honestly. My first was some 33Mhz chip that I got to 50MHz. I think it was a 386? I was on Windows 3.1 at the time....

Next up was a Pentium 90MHz, got it to 133MHz.

Next was an AMD K6 233, got it to 400MHz.

Next was an AMD K6-2 500, got it to 700MHz.

Various P1's and P2's, and other AMD K5 and K6 chips. Eventually stepped into the Athlon XP's and pencil modded every one of those I owned (and a few T-birds). Then 754, the 775 Celeron D (got to 4.5GHz), then 939 (1.8 to 3.4GHz on my Opty 165), then AM2+ with an unlocked Athlon quad...then my sig rig. That should cover most of my MAIN rigs.

Mine wasn't as long ago as it was for most who've replied.

Technically, my first was a Celeron 633MHz (socket 370 Coppermine, 128k, 66MHz FSB). I got it to 100MHz... by removing a pin. I hope that counts? This was in an OEM PC, and I had the CPU from a prior PC, and I wasn't planning on keeping it that way. I didn't test it for stability, but it booted up fine at ~950Mhz or so.

The PC that came from was a socket 370 board with switches for controlling the speeds, and I never noticed it (or knew about such stuff) until after I killed the board anyway. Figures.

I had some time overclocking an Athlon 64 3200+ and a Pentium 4 2.8GHz.

My first "proper" and more permanent and major overclock was my Core 2 Duo E8400 to 4.0GHz (4.32GHz tops due to RAM), where I ran it at 3.6GHz for a while even. Later was my Core 2 Duo E8600 (4.5GHz for a short while, but I went with 4GHz), and then to what I have now.

That would be on my very first CPU, a Pentium II Klamath 350MHz to 390MHz back in 1998 smile.gif
