Watercooling Questions - Need help!

Thread Starter
I'm going to be purchasing the following (below) for my first watercooled rig in about a week, and I need some advice/help.

1. Is a silver Kill Coil ok with this loop (see below)
2. How many times a year does it have to be cleaned e.t.c.
3. Any general tips on draining/removing bubbles/any other useful tips?
4. Any changes to my list (Also should I use MX-4 or AS5 as thermal compound)?
5. Any guides that you found helpful would be much appreciated.

Thanks biggrin.gif

I'd change those fans, 3000RPM will be so loud!! Not to mention the RX seris of rads doesn't need such high RPM fans as it has a low FPI count.

I use Yate Loon D12SH's on a fan controller at about 1000-1100RPM, cools my i7 930 @ 4.2Ghz + two 6950's in CF quite nicely, I see about an 10-11C Delta t under gaming load.

Maybe you could look at the XSPC 1200RPM fans, I've already picked up two of these to put on my 240Rad when I buy it. Their quite cheap and according to Juggalo perform really well.

Yeah I know the fans are a bit of an overkill, but I like having fan overkill, and I'll have a fan controller so I hope that 3 of them at minimum won't be too bad tongue.gif

The WC kit does come with 3 fans, so I might do a push/pull

EDIT: ^would that even be a good idea? The Scythe Kaze pushing and the stock fans pulling?
Do push/pull for sure, especially if you plan to lower the fans RPM to get a quiet rig..
I got 6 120mm fans at my 2 radiators .. one is 240 the other 120 running at 700rpm for my overclock.
Its still hearable.. if you want complete silence buy a extern passive big radiator, but then it will be harder to get your rig to lanparties if you plan this.

Ok thanks, idk why but I just like the option to turn up the fans so loud that I can't hear myself talk biggrin.gif

Those scythe kazes may be loud, but they work. I have 2 on my 120 rad in my folding rig, and it keeps my 2600k with 1.5v under 70c. And like you said, you have a fan controller, so just adjust it as you got.

as for compound, id get AS5 as it normally shows a few degrees c difference. And clearing airbubbles just requires some tilting/jolting of the case as the loop runs.

What bramd/color tubing you going with?

Thanks heaps.

Not exactly sure on the tubing yet, I could go with stock but I've heard there is plasticizer problems and buildup or whatever, and it doesnt look too good.

Maybe these?

ahh thanks, any other alternatives though?

The kit comes with 6x 1/2" Barbs and 7/16 tubing, what Tubing should I be using?

EDIT: What about this?

1. I would recommend you get a stronger pump just so you don't need to upgrade in the future.

2. If you want to have a Push Pull fan set up it's preferable to have the same fans running at the same rpm on both sides

3. I would happily recommend Aquacomputing Au as a shop to buy your WC gear from way better rang that any shop in AU better far better prices on most things and the shipping cost (from Europe) are not two bad when you consider the practicality and what you have saved due to the decent prices + Au dollar is high currently. (that said i did buy a far bit more than you which probably was one of the reason I ended save tons on what it would have cost in Au)
