temp difference between liquid and air cooling

Thread Starter
hi all,
i'm starting this thread just to have an idea about what can be the max temperature gain in using watercooling instead of air cooling,
in a situation like this:

-same pc,1 gpu only.
-high end air cooling
-high end watercooling with single loop containing cpu/gpu/chipset.

max cpu temp under air/liquid?
idle cpu temp under air/liquid?

i ask you this cause my actual watercooling need an upgrade that would cost me around 500 euro to get the "perfection",
and i could use that money to upgrade from my actual e8400 to an i5 2500k.

i've read some threads about max oc people have obtained with just air cooling and it seems now air cooling is getting ****** efficient.

thx.

Highend HSFs are good but a proper open loop water-cooling system will offer lower temps with very high thermal loads. A Corsair CLC H100 is just a couple degrees better than a highend HSF but you can get a few more degrees with a quality water-cooling system. Unless you need the extra cooling and are willing to accept the water-leak liability, then a highend HSF serves most people very well.

Dual Tower Heatsink(Silver Arrow, NH D14, Zalman CNPS12X,more) with fans like TY 140/NF P14/NF P12 (3x:2x120mm+1x140mm) With a good thermal compound(Antec Formula 7, Noctua NT H1) could Reach or be better than Closed water cooling kits, also adding that Closed water cooling kits are more expensive and doesnt let you to add more fans (2x/1x) on the space is set

ty both for replies,
my personal conclusion is that watercooling for me is more like an hobby than something i really need,
anyway,i'll stick with it.biggrin.gif
