What is your maximum budget?
U$1200
What country are you in?
Taiwan
What will be the uses of this laptop?
Web browsing, youtube, media and maybe some CAD work in the future.
Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Nope
What screen size do you require?
13". Not much smaller or bigger as she has to be able to carry it around and it has to be big enough to watch series on.
What screen resolution do you require?
1366x768 is fine, but higher is better I guess.
Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
NEW.
How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
Doesn't matter much, but 5h on movies would be nice.
What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
She doesn't really play games, but if she did it wouldn't be anything too demanding.
What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows.
Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
She wants a nice looking laptop. I'm trying to shy her away from getting a Macbook so looks are huge.
How much hard drive space do you need?
>320GB if no USB3.0 or eSATA. Not much space at all if there is.
Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
Webcam of course, USB 3.0 would be nice as would eSATA.
Is there anything else we need to know?
She wants a Macbook, but I really want her to get a PC (to save all the headaches I'm gonna get if she does go with a Macbook). Preferrably it'd be a light, 13" laptop she'd carry around for school and home use. She does not game on the PC so specs don't matter that much. She might need to use some engineering software so just needs something that can handle that.
I've been looking at the Asus Zenbooks and they look nice, but 11" screen is too small.
