What more can I do with my computer? (Upgrade suggestions)

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm wondering what more I can do with my computer without spending alot or having to replace more than a few parts.

Specs:

Asus P6T 1366 motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 - OC to 4.01Ghz
XFX ATI HD6950 1GB - Not OCed, tried but couldn't get much.
6GB Patriot Viper RAM OC to about 1400Mhz
OCZ Octane 128GB SSD
500GB WD Black HDD

I had upgraded my graphics card at Christmas, and I got the SSD a few days ago.

Temps are fine, computer could be a bit quieter but no big deal, I never notice if I'm playing games.

Is there really anything more I can do?

upgrade/increase ram depending on motherboard compatibility
You only have sata 3gbs or do you have sata 6gbs you could
get some cool software a new monitor or cpu cooler
mod the case mod the cooling system get a expansion card
or save your money

If you're happy with what you have, leave it, the upgrade itch is always going to be there - I finally managed to get my rig in a place where I don't feel a 100% need to upgrade, and have managed to go ~ 6 months without upgrading, although I did finally add a fan controller and exchange out the Yate Loons on my VenX for some R4's to get a bit quieter, now the case is whisper quiet thumb.gif

You should be able to get a second 6950 1gb for pretty cheap right now, but if you don't act fast you won't be able to get one as their going out of stock everywhere pretty fast.

Here's a list of other upgrades you might want to consider:
- Mechanical Keyboard (80 ~ 150$)
- Sound Card (around 100$ range for a nice one)
- Quality Headphones (100 to 200$ range)
- New Fan('s) (if you have extra slots, or just tape it loose inside your case)
- Bamboo Pen Tablet Input device (up to 200$)

Overall your system is pretty balanced though, you shouldn't really need anything. If you don't already I think the best upgrade you can get is a mechanical keyboard. Check out the OCN mechanical keyboard guide for more info.

All of the above and/or a bigger monitor. Also you could RAID some drives.
