We will have a price for you soon, we are still tweaking the design so we don't have a final price just yet. Expect it to be between $1500-$2000 but again the price may still change.

By the time this comes out, the euro might be so worthless it may actually cost that. redface.gif

OT: That's 1.5-2 grand for just the desk? What are the build materials? What kind of glass/plastic? :x Is there a motherboard tray or something so you can easily take your system out to clean it?

I don't have an answer for you on that yet but I we are working on international manufacturers to reduce the cost to customers outside the US.

Correct, Just for the desk. You have to think of it more as buying a piece of furniture rather than just a simple PC case, there is a significant amount of material and manufacturing that goes into this compared to a traditional PC tower. The majority of the desk will be steel with a few aluminum components (such as the trim and motherboard trays), acrylic fan grills (with help from MNPCTECH) and a scratch resistant glass top. The components are powder coated for excellent scratch resistance.

The motherboard and drive trays are removable by removing the mounting screws, however there are panels on the underside of the desk that allow you to access the backside of the motherboard without removing the trays.

I understand that it is a real novelty item with significant costs towards actually getting it manufactured. However, that said, a mostly steel construction should not cost $2k IMO. I think it's a really cool idea, decent design (not a huge fan of the legs), and very creative, but by pricing it so high, you are definitely lowering your marketability.

Yes we realize the price is a bit high, but the Cross desk is not aimed at the "mainstream" user and as is priced accordingly. We won't be manufacturing in high volume (which is where most of the cost savings in a traditional case comes in) so the manufacturing cost per desk is relativity high. Also with the Cross desk we are using significantly more material than a typical PC case and more than a typical desk. The Cross desk is also far more complex than your standard computer desk, requiring removable trays, cover panels, hard drive mounts, cable routing and other interior components. The Cross desk will also be customize able for different setups and requirements, all of which add cost. If the demand for Cross is greater than we expect we can start to look at higher volume production methods and other options to bring the cost of the desk down. We hope to have other products in the future that will be cheaper and geared more to the mainstream audience but we will be releasing the Cross desk as our flagship, premium product.

Edit: I should add as a smaller company it allows us to be more flexible with our product so we can work with customers to meet their needs if they have special design requirements or requests above and beyond the standard options.
