hi there, new member here

I thought i'd share my daily o/c on my 1100t of 4.1ghz at 1.5v (yes i know the voltage is a little high but its been fine for 1 year at that so far biggrin.gif with no issues i've got no idea what kinda life span im going to get out of this chip at this voltage. although i am lucky and am able to keep the temps relatively luck in the fact that im able to keep temps lowish with an idle temp of 35*c and a load temp of 50 - 60*c

Couldn't seem to get higher than this. Maybe I'm limited by human error because I don't know much about OC. Still an improvement though. smile.gif

1st of all, thanks for updating my OC. smile.gif I like the activity even for new folks like me, it keeps me motivated to learn and do more with my PC.

Second of all, please if I'm doing something wrong or maybe something that you might see different from what I should be doing, advise please! It's hard enough to google, rather hear from other peeps as for your information is invaluable.

And lastly, kind of off topic to the CPU forums but I'm trying to OC my graphics card (radeon hd 6970) with the AMD vision control center. Is this probably the optimal overclock software for just whatevers? Or is there something more I could be doing to reach "benchmark" type speeds? I linked this http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3264511;jsessionid=1g4kcze1wrh4jbq8e6s8nem2a I don't even know if that's good or not.

I know this might be asking alot but if anyone is willing to throw some advise my way I would greatly appreciate it! And I'll keep the press on pushing my CPU to the max! smile.gif 4.0 here I come

The GPU overclocking software of choice for many is MSI Afterburner, but there's no reason why you shouldn't use AMD VCC... just go with what you feel more comfortable with.

Any reason you are overclocking by FSB rather than multiplier? Using fsb overclocks not only the CPU but RAM, CPU/NB and HT. Seeing as you hit a wall at a very modest overclock I'd assume you have not adjusted settings for the higher fsb and so the ram or the others are limiting you.

Put fsb back at 200 and just use multiplier and vcore. There really is no reason to use fsb overclocking other than tweaking that last piece of performance out of your comp. Ram, CPU/NB and HT can be oc'ed separately later.

I'll give it a go today, thanks for the tip smile.gif

**Update

Frustration I suppose is what I'm at right now..

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2344370

I put my fsb back to 200 and raised my multiplier to what I could boot at. Got the validation and as I was posting this update I blue screened. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. However I do have photos of my BIOS to maybe get some more in depth on this. My goal is 4.0. I won't stop til I find a way to get there smile.gif Attached is my BIOS at the validated state posted above..

Also if you think hardware may be an issue, I have it stated in my profile description. And those willing to tackle helping me I thank you ! smile.gif I'll give you results if you provide advice I promise.

Well, I can't see anything wrong with what you're doing, might be you just have a very unlucky CPU. I have some suggestions, but don't expect miracles;

First of all, you're monitoring temps right? I see you have a good cooler, but you never know. Core temp 62c max, preferable to not go over mid 50's.

Disable CPU spread spectrum. Also disable C1E and Cool'n'Quiet if you haven't already.

Have you run memtest to test the ram? You might also try to run with just 2 sticks in, it will sometimes improve overclocking.

Setup 1:
CPU V: 1.45
CPU/NB v: 1.3
Try putting ram at 1333mhz just to see if it makes a difference.
CPU/NB Freq: Can probably put this at at least 2400 - 2600.
Bus: 200

Try first x18,5 for 3.7ghz first and run a stress test. then the same with x19 for 3.8 and so on upwards if you can.

Setup 2:
I see you do have a reason to use fsb overclocking so you can get your ram to the rated 1800mhz. you might have to increase the ram voltage a bit.

Same CPU and CPU/NB voltages as earlier.

225x17= 3825mhz, use multiplier to go higher if possible after thorough stress testing.
ram in 1600mhz mode. 225 x 4 x 2 = 1800mhz

Adjust HT link to 2000mhz manually and CPU/NB to a reasonable speed.

Anyway, not sure if this will give you any more OC headroom, but at least worth a shot. Besides I'm bored at work. wink.gif

Will be working on this as we speak, smile.gif I"ll keep ya posted. And ty for the help. biggrin.gif

Ok ran your recommended setup 1 it ran good.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2344872

CPU V: 1.45
CPU/NB v: 1.3
Ram @ 1333mhz
CPU/NB Freq @ 2400
18.5 x 200
HT Link @ 2000mhz

Ran stress test and it worked 100%, temps were great. Ran memtest86 and had no issues.

I tried bumping the multiplier up to 19 and ran the stress test. As soon as I started it, I'd get a PC restart. So I was like ok, Setup 2 lets try that. And that was a no go as well. I didn't even make it to my windows "welcome" screen. So currently i'm running the OC stated above with no issues. Not sure where to go from here, been at it for bout 3-4hours now, bout to get some sleep and go at it tomorrow. Progress for me is good because now I at least know this OC is 100% reliable so I can increment from here (just don't know where yet lol)
