VL4N QDC's & Flow Rate Query

Hi All,

Quick question before I splash out on my fittings for my first watercooling loop.

Is it alright (and by alright I mean safe/won't kill my temps/flow rate) if I purchase Koolance VL4N QDC's throughout my loop? I want to be able to detach any block from the loop should I need to. I understand I'll have to purchase thread conversion fittings for these particular types of QDC's but that's fine.

I have the following in the loop:

1 x XSPC Raystorm CPU block
1 x Black Ice 360GTX Rad
1 x HD 7990/GTX 680 (when it comes out) with an EK block (when it comes out)
1 x Black Ice 480SR-1 Rad (externally mounted)
1 x EK Multioption Advanced 250 X2 Res
2 x D5-Strong pumps in series with EK Dual top
1 x Koolance Dual Pump controller (12v -> 24v)
1/2" ID 3/4" OD Primochill LRT tubing

I'd like to maintain a flow rate near enough as possible to 1.5gpm having read up this is the sweet spot for best temps; and Martins Pump/Rad optimiser seems to suggest it will be close to this with 8 sets of disconnects (i.e. 8 male + 8 female) with pumps ~20V. That being said, does the pump/rad optimser mean individual QDC's, in which case I should have selected 16?

Anyway, in short, do you think it's wise to buy 8 sets of QDC's for the above loop given that I'd like to maintain a ~1.5gpm flow rate?

Thanks very much in advance all smile.gif

Regards

Mal.

I'm pretty sure the optimiser uses a pair, as I don't think its possible to test them while not connected. But im not 100% sure.

Also keep in mind the VL4's are HUGE. Make sure you have enough tubing length between components to fit that many. I bought 3 VL4 pairs to provide a removable filter solution for my loop but due to their size I wasn't able to fit them.

I have 5 in my build without issue. Levesque has close to 16 or so in one one of his builds and I think like 12 or so in another if I counted correctly. They all run without a hitch. You can find his build in the Mountain Mods club and link to mine in my sig.

Thank you both for your responses. I appreciate it :-)

It's settled then. VL4N's all the way!
