Not sure how I came to it but I remembered, just from a random thought, the Voodoo series from 3DFX and went over to GPUReview.com to look up the specs just for S&Gs. This was right at the start of me joining Overclock.net so my knowledge was... severely lacking...

(Disclaimer: I literally only knew about the Voodoo 3, Radeon 9800 Pro, Radeon X300 SE, Nvidia 6600GT, and the Nvidia 7300GT before I joined OCN. Oh yeah and the Mobility Radeon 3470 Hybrid Crossfired with an HD3200 that was in my previous laptop. thumb.gif)

Through my search, I came across a slew of GPUs and companies that I'd never heard of or seen before. Most of the years were around the same time my dad had his Voodoo 3, so I was very surprised that there were so few truly advertised GPUs. The most prominent ones at the time, at least the ones back when WalMart would display them, were the Radeon 9800, 9700, and 9600, and I THINK the FX5000 series was up there... I can't remember... o.o Been nearly a decade for ME! I'm only 23 and I can say that! redface.gif I feel old... frown.gif

haha, anyways...

I wanted to bring up this thread to see if I can get a few of those GPUs back up into the memories of others. biggrin.gif"Inspiration is key when it comes to inventing. So why not learn to avoid the same mistakes?" as my grandfather told me on several occasions, when I was much much younger, and anyone who has a card still, or had a card, and can give a decently detailed review on it would be appreciated.

Or heck, just post up your experiences good or bad about whatever card(s) you had in the past. biggrin.gif

EDIT:

(Disclaimer #2: I'm a huge nerd about stuff like this. biggrin.gif Please help satisfy my current urge to LEARN! biggrin.gif)
