Can anyone just tell me what it is that is limiting my overclock. I have controll over the ram clock speed so the ram is not limiting. The ht link is the same as the CPU clock so it shouldnt be to much... What could it be.... Also I'm almost certain that my proccessor can handle more than 220 because it is perfectly stable at 220, even when stress testing for hours. So I don't think that 221 would not just make it unstable but make it unable to boot at all

from what i see it is the fsb and its ratio..
http://techreport.com/articles.x/8026/1

ive taken a similar cpu to 2.6 ghz.. how many ramsticks do you use? two or is it part of the model name?
for example ratio 2:1 = 200 x cpu ratio of 9 would be 1.8ghz .. ram would run its own fsb of 400 and the fsb freq ratio is for the final fsb between gpu and cpu..

with 220 you run you have a ram fsb of 440.. your board support 400 so this will cap you. if you could change your fsb/dram ratio it would be no problem but this option is missing in your bios from what i see.. you have just the final fsb multiplier..

341

my experience about this is from a7n8x with amd64 3500.. if i said something wrong pls correct me

As I have stated many times I don't have the multiplier but I can limit the dram frequency In the bios so The ram is not limiting me

The old Athlon and Athlon X2 chipa re good up to 1.6-1.7 volts. If it stops booting past 220 FSB lower your memory speed setting. Most DDR 1 is no good past 200Mhz (400 DDR), especially your cheapo ram (which I own some of the same, it wont go over 230 without lots of volts).

I had some specialty ram for my old Socket 939 that was rated for 250Mhz (DDR 500), but you cant find that stuff anymore. Set your ram to 333 or 266 in the bios, pump up the CPU volts to 1.6, and start cranking the FSB up.

Also make sure to set the HTT multiplier down to X4 which will get you up to 250 FSB, or X3 which will get you up to 300 FSB.

Almost forgot, use CPU-Z to get your memories timings (SPD tab) and manually configure them into the BIOS. When you use the lower RAM dividers older BIOS programs would set the timings to the defaults for the selected speed, which are way too tight for running the normal max speed on the ram.

I have one of these running at 3Ghz on an old Chinese NF4 board, it takes way high volts and a decent cooler though. I think it was at 1.7v last time I ran it.
