The display on the iPad 3 has some crazy power draw... the iPhone 4's display draws 0.42 watts, the iPad 2's display 2.7 watts, and the iPad 3's display 7 watts!

My Gnex hits 110F+ doing simple things. But you don't see threads about it because it isn't an issue. This is only an issue because it's Apple.
It's simple really. Huge die + huge battery = huge heat. And until 28nm parts are in all smartphones/tablets, it won't be fixed.
