[CVG] Devs call for 'always-on' next-gen consoles - Page 5

So now they are going to start ticking off the frat boy who likes to take his console to an internet-less camp 3 miles in out in the wilderness on the weekends or pitch a tent in the backyard and have a Guys Afternoon In *cough*
It doesn't sound significant but that's one trickle down effect that will end and a sector of people you don't want to tick off, even if they are COD fanatics. It worked with Steam and certain games because PC users are somewhat sophisticated... you can see where this is going.

Not all people have access to it.

There is a still good population who are still on dial-up, or like myself, Limited to satellite.

The future is so near, we will soon have Gigabit wifi across the USA, and that will be fabulous...

It's a lot cheaper and faster to do Wifi than it is to run cables everywhere...

Come on Qualcomm give us that chip ASAP!!!!!

I also get blazing speeds like twice that of dial up. All that greatness for only $86.00 rolleyes.gif

Makes me rage because there is still no end to this madness insight mad.gif

Yeah always on DRM, that work out nicely in the pass...ow wait what? anyone remember Ubisoft always on DRM? Ow Assassins Creed 2 and Driver San Francisco, were cracked in less then a week and pirated and the Ubisoft servers went down thanks to DDoS attacks in the end who pirated the game was able to play with no problem while who payed couldn't play freaking awesome. Thats how great Always On DRM is.

Also remember last year when Sony PSN was down a month what would have happened if there was Always on DRM in place? You would have a dead console in your hands.

I used to have them and loved that free period but their tech support was awful and my service went out and they refused to help me at all. I called and fought with them several times and they acted like I was dumb blaming me and tried to charge me for all new equipment/install. My install was only 7 months old mad.gif

I cancelled them, closed the bank account, and went back to dial up for a couple years till signing up with Wildblue. Hughes even even tried to sue me lol. That didn't get to far tongue.gif @ them hehe

Anyway, yea good Internet availability in the USA still leaves alot to be desired frown.gif

My Provider came up with this great idea rolleyes.gif with the new satellite to lower caps, charge more money, and let you (out of the kindness of their little CEO hearts) rolleyes.gif buy your self out of penalty for only a mere $8 per GB mad.gif
