Just watch for freezing, that's all you have to worry about! But out of curiosity, how did you set the voltage? Did you use voltage offset? Because if you used offset instead of manual volt settings, it could be that, since you have power-saving states off, that the voltage is dropping when you go to idle, but your clocks aren't so it freezes! If you are using voltage offset, then try turning the power-saving features back on!

I have voltage set manually for ram and vcore. cpu-z still shows it fluctuate between 1.318ish to 1.322ish. Also just ran every calculation in SuperPI and no freezing.

That sounds right... And no crash or anything either? thinking.gif I still suspect that if it happens after you close prime95 it could be to do with the idle voltages, or it could be a software issue.... What are your voltages at idle?

You are supposed to keep C1E, Turbo and EIST enabled. Are you using manual or offset voltage?

As far as C3/C6 states go:
Quote:
To prevent idle or Random BSODs (sometimes error 124) you have to set the C States in a particular way.

If you are using offset mode for voltage, you must disable the C3 and C6 report.

If you are using Manual voltage then you must either run them on auto or enable them.

OK at idle with just firefox open for the forum lol its sitting at 1.312 in cpu-z. The C states are all off with manual voltages. Ill go into bios and set them all to on. Or is auto better? Not familiar with the C states at all...its actually one of the things thats confused me. But if they should be enabled or auto with manual that may be my problem.

With manual voltage I believe they should all be on!

Generally with Sandy Bridge you leave C1E, Turbo and EIST Enabled regardless of manual or offset voltage. C3/C6 depends on what voltage mode you run as I quoted above. Enabled/Auto will enable them but you can set it to enable just in case.

Ok cool thanks for clearing that up for me. Like I said it was confusing me more then anything. I went in and made sure speed step turbo and all C states where enabled since I have voltages set manually. smile.gif So far Ive noticed one annoying thing fixed!!! My mouse dosnt lag lol. Anyways I guess I have some more testing to run ill report back prob tomorrow. Been sitting in this dang chair for too long today lol. Thanks again for the help and insight.thumb.gif

If you're stable at 4.5GHz with 1.31v then you're off to a real good start.
