hello my pc will run fine if i dont install any drivers for my graphics card but when i install any driver my pc will crash on game and on installing programs and on the internet it is just random. It will come up with a black screen sometimes grey and sometimes a blue blank screen and will not let me do anything the keyboard freezes too and will not respond. Is my gpu faulty or is there a setting i need to change in my bios???? help please its a new build also my bios is up to date and iv tried installing drivers from cd and from amd website same thing happens.

i bought my parts from scan.co.uk and returned the psu and gpu they said my gpu was fine and passed a benchmark (on mine it would freeze if i try to open a benchmark) and the psu was faulty and they sent a new one but it didnt change the problem. also i ran mem test overnight the results are clear.

specs..

mobo - sabertooth 990fx
cpu - phenom 965
gpu - msi 6870
ram - 8gb vengance ram 1600
psu - antec truepower new 650w

What is the info about your HDD? New or used.

Is it a fresh install of Windows or what other OS you are using?

hello it is a new hdd and i have tried re installing windows and still happens, and i have tried different drivers and i have used ccleaner. i took my pc to my freinds and i tried his old gpu and my pc was fine it ran all my games no crash. so is it my gpu or could it be my psu? i have a antec truepower new 650w is that enough? i have read reviews and i should be able to crossfire with that psu. i think its my gpu and scan are trying to rob my money. what do you think?

It is sounding like your GPU, but to be sure put your GPU in his machine, and see what happens?

If he has no problems, have his GPU and PSU in your machine? and yours in his?

Basically what you need to do is swap parts with good ones, when the problem is on his, you have it?

And yes, your PSU is a good one thumb.gif and would be fine, unless made on Friday afternoon or Monday morning wink.gif

You could always take your computer to Scan and ask them to show you the fault rolleyes.gif

IF his GPU ran fine in your rig then the problem is definitely your Graphics card. But to be sure do what ginger_nuts said, and put your GPU into his rig with the drivers and see what happens.

You might just have to RMA your GPU frown.gif

hello i cant put my gpu in his pc as his pc is rubbish and wouldn't run the gpu. and i cant get to scan as i live far away from the shop, also i rma my psu and card a few weeks ago as the problem happened and they said my psu was bad and replaced it and said my gpu passed and sent it back. i contacted them and they said it passed a 3 hour benchmark and said you can rma it again but if it comes back clean i will get a charge.

Use ATIMan http://www.mediafire.com/?sja6d1z3t2ld6as and if that don't work just fully format ur hdd or secure erase with this http://www.dban.org/download only on HDD!!! if u use SSD do secure erase with Parted Magic http://www.overclock.net/t/1227597/how-to-secure-erase-your-solid-state-drive-ssd-with-parted-magic and ask shop where they tested gpu which drivers they used and if they had defualt settings in AMD Catalyst
