Nice!

It's interesting--I think the ease of designing and building a chair on wheels has out-shined the subtleties of socialization.

No matter how nice these travel devices are for them, it will never feel right when they poop. Never.

I can see this definitely helping these people to live more normal lives...kinda curious how it does on slopes though, seems top heavy.

there are many awesome things out there that would replace a wheelchair, problem is though they all cost more than 10 wheelchairs, this changes nothing.

I didn't know that paraplegics are required to stand up for 1 hour every day. I know some neckbeards that don't even do that.

Certainly a prototype, but the idea is there thumb.gif

Interesting concepts

BUT from someone who is in a wheelchair and has very limited hand/arm use this concept flies out the window right along with crutches.
I can see this being helpful to loads of individuals just not those with my disability.

I agree. I have a good friend who broke his neck last year and as a result, he has absolutely no control of his legs, very little control of his hands/fingers, and very limited control of his arms. This would unfortunately not work for him, probably, since he doesn't have the fine motor control required for the controls.

I do have another friend that was born with absolutely no control of his legs, but this device would work very well for him since as far as I know, he has very good control of his hands.

I do wonder about the device though and its stability when the unit is in the upright position. Regardless, I'm really glad they made something like this. It seems their focus is on making it more possible for individuals with certain disabilities that require them to be wheelchair bound, but still have good arm/hand use, to be able to more easily integrate into society on an everyday basis. I hope more research keeps going into this kind of work!

This is amazing. I can't even imagine the sense of freedom this would provide someone who has little or no use of their legs; something we surely all take for granted.
