So this is a giant EMP?
frown.gif

Alright so what about things that run on batteries. Will those stop working also?
Or what about waterpowered things? Or wind powered?
Or solar powered?

Look up Michio Kaku's credentials. If this doesn't scare you, I bid you good luck.

No, we've gotta encase our homes in metal enclosures so those magnetic fields cause currents in the enclosure rather than in what's covered by it. I just explained to you the "Faraday Cage" principle.

i'm guessing hard drives would die too (or loose all the data)???

Goodbye Satellites? Ouch!

Looks like these solar storms have already been knocking out power stations across the world over in the past too, even satellites and even a space station, in the more recent past (< 15 years)...

I think it would be a travesty if we were knocked back 20 50 years with no power in the world, that would suck HARD, reminds me of that movie Darkness, I couldn't bare to think about how much criminal activity that would run rampant... You wouldn't be able to call for help, it would take the cops forever to respond, and martial law would probably have to be declared instantly...

If all car's electrical systems & computers died it would be real ugly indeed...

The worst part is the loss of power to the Nuclear power plants, yikes! It would be the Japan crisis all over the world...

this is neat i heard we are at the solar climax in this cycle this year... meaning yes strong solar storms.. magnificent lights in the sky at night... and sataliete failues.... the cable went out a week ago in my area for cogeco.. one of there sat's got "winded" by this solar wind and delayed communication. They had it fixed after about 6 hours of no tv. lol best 6 hours ever i went outside and suntanned with the gf biggrin.gif who knew a computer nerd could get a tan XD but rly this is something to be concerned aobut but there is nothing any of us can do.....
