[Vortez] AMD's 7800-Series Now Available Worldwide - Page 5

Thread Starter
I think once people realize that the mobile markets are dominating for a very clear reasons (CHEAP!), they will see why the Video Card Makers are trying to milk the enthusiast for all they can.... mad.gif

The PC era is dying for many, as they leave the bloated pricey markets called the Desktop in favor of mobile devices which are smaller and can do basically the same thing, outside of gaming hardcore & massive CPU or GPU intensive task, like Video Encoding etc.. (Not that it cannot do that!)

I for one am sad that we are losing our formal days, moving towards CPUs that can't be altered, and Video Cards that cost more than an entire laptop...

Till people realize "Why" these video card makers are gouging everyone, they won't wake up...

How long does it usually take before new desktop card models gets mobile and also prices drop down too a more "acceptable" level? I live in Europe if this matters.

I was thinking of getting a laptop with a Core i7-2670QM cpu and Radeon 6770M pretty cheaply. Should i wait a couple of months or will the performance/effectivety not be much different from the 40nm?

I don't see how they are over priced.

They're only over-priced in comparison to last gen's launch prices. 6850 released at $180 and the 6870 at $250. Right now, AMD's prices are competitive with nVidia, but that doesn't make them great buys. Last gen's prices should've dropped more by now, especially on nVidia's side.
