Have you tried updating your sound drivers or reinstalled the game? I'll cruise the net and see what'll find, I haven't encountered that problem before..

This may sound crazy but, it's happened to me on a couple of occasions: did you check the volume adjuster for BF3 in the mixer?

Out of no where my sound in BF3 goes out or really low and it's usually because the BF3 volume adjuster in Windows is down; how it magically moves itself is beyond me..?
1) Have Origin, your browser and BF3 open
2) Alt + Tab out of the game (or use the Windows key)
3) Open the mixer and scroll to the BF3 volume controller
4) If it's down raise it and get back into the game
