Hi folks.
My current computer is a hybrid gaming and video making setup. I have a 1TB that is close to running out of space after a year's worth of work, and I'd like to add a second hard drive to my system that'll allow me more space while still running smoothly.
As I live in the Philippines, my ability to find hard drives is rather limited by what comes to us here. At the same time, I'm lucky enough to be heading to the US with family, and I was wondering if you could either recommend a good internal hard drive to purchase for my needs, or if I should purchase the only 1 TB offering available to me at the moment.
For your information, my current setup uses a WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 (Western Digital, though the rest of the specs I have no clue). I don't know if I should get something similar, or whatever is current.
The local shop here in the Philippines says they only have Seagate 1TB units in stock, and some quick research on Seagate hard drive problems leads to this story about Seagate drives failing: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/seagate-7200.11-failing,6844.html
That said, the cost for the 1TB seagate drive is equivalent to 115 dollars when I do the money conversions.
When I go to the US (maybe in a month's time), should I ask my aunt/uncle to order a particular drive for me from a specific site so I can pick it up from them when I come there? I can't bring my Desktop PC there, but I know a place that'll install the hard drive for me without any fees once I get back (I have problems with easily generating static electricity so I hesitate to install my own stuff). I'm trying to keep the price under 130 dollars if possible.
One last question: Do I need a stronger power supply if I'm using two drives? Right now my gaming setup uses a 750W power supply unit (if I remember correctly).
Thank you for your time!
