And took the 7970 over a year to come out after the 580...

The 7970 is still ridiculously fast...
I was going to skip this generation, but after seeing some of these benches, I am considering selling my 580's now...

14 months to top the 580. Now the 680 has creamed, in EVERY measurable regard, the Radeon 7970 in about two and a half months. Nice! thumb.gif

Looks like a great card for 1920x1080

Pity the only game tested which isn't skewed in some way towards Nvidia was Metro 2033.

So it owns the 7970 and is rumoured to be cheaper aswell, win for nvidia this time around. Hopefully we will see alot of price drops for the amd 7 series making the 7970 worth it
post #47 of 296
Anyway, it looks good, beats the 7970 by a good margin in some (Pro Nvidia) games, but slows down at higher resolutions (I wonder how 3x1080p will fare).

Will reserve judgement until after NDA expires and all reviews are out wink.gif

Well, with the new story that surfaced on Fudzilla about nVidia pricing the 680 at $499 USD... AMD will have to cut the price in order to stay in the game... otherwise alot of people are going to defect.

I would rather buy a sub 300 dollar 580 and SLI them. HD 7970 might drop to 450 but still too money for me to CF.

I always loved amd for bang for the buck hopefully they will lower the prices below 680, I would probally pick one up then as the 7970's are looking to be better at higher resolutions.
Or if the 580s drop in price again you could'nt really beat sli 580 for the price.
