[Tom's] GeForce GTX 680 Review (links/pics of all the graphs) - Page 16

These numbers really knid of put the future GK110 into perspective. If this is really only Nvidia's mid-range response to the 7970, imagine what the GTX 780 is going to look like at the end of this year!!!

Some words are better at conveying some meanings than others, if they weren't they wouldn't ever have been deemed swearing, curses, or profane.
Strictly speaking, there is no "need" for most of the words in even a simpleton's vocabulary. Most concepts can be conveyed with combinations of only several hundred, to perhaps a few thousand words. So why have more?
Personally, I embrace the versatility of my language when it serves my meaning, and were I am able. It's more efficient, less clunky, and often of superior accuracy, especially when trying to communicate subtle distinctions in a medium that would otherwise require excessive enunciation.
Everything offends someone, probably a lot of someones, and the idea that either politeness, or common sense, are served by running the euphemism treadmill or using less precise terminology is a farce. People just like to project their own taboos.

True.

I just don't see the need to be complaining about having to refrain from using vulgar or explicit language when there is no real need to. Sure some words can express a feeling or emotional in a more abrupt and to the point way... but people here seem to complain about having to refrain from swearing when they would rather use it to insult or defame someone. Alot of people seem to forget the old saying of "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all". Those are just me views however, although I believe I'm not alone in sharing them as if I was there would be no filter or rules against the language in the first place.

This is more like a GTX670 with a GTX(X80) Price. I would say the other card will be 20-30% faster. I just hope we get some games because these cards would be nothing without games.

It's about censorship. It's no different then censoring the word "Apple".

They are a dynamic part of language, and to think they can only be used to insult or offend is ignorant.

FORZA NVIDIA

AMD's compute power is much higher. The 7870 supposedly beats the GTX 680 on that front, so the 7970 absolutely destroys it.

There is no such thing as a magical GPU. They had to sacrifice something to get their performance numbers up.

Wait, so I've been reading more.

Much faster than a 7970.

Consumes -less- power? This is NVIDIA, right? lol.

499$ Launch price? VS the 650$ + people were paying for 7970's at launch?

This isn't good! NVIDIA is going to snuff out AMD by all around offering better everything!

As for compute numbers, I don't really know much about that, but hey, the 7970 has had months of drivers, while the 680 is brand new.

I want to see 4 months down the road, how the perform VS each other.

I don't believe I said this anywhere... my point was that the only people that really seem to complain about not being allowed to swear is because they would rather use that language for that purpose.

Anyways, offtopic.gif I've made my point, and said my piece. So that's that.

Back to the 680 epicness!

Shall I sell my 7970 gentlemen? I only use 1 screen.

So I'd lose 1 GB vram, but would that matter much?

http://www.overclock.net/t/1231760/the-inquirer-nvidias-gtx680-gets-thrashed-by-amds-mid-range-radeon-hd-7870-in-gpu-compute

If you look at the benchmarks, nvidia's card has terrible compute capabilities compared to the 7*** series. Can't wait to see real reviews so we can get the low down on all of this... even though it's obvious they sacrificed it for their PhysX format.

Can anyone point me to 7970 performance in something like open format v-ray rendering?
