So I'd lose 1 GB vram, but would that matter much?

The loss in VRAM will not affect you at all if you play on only 1 screen biggrin.gif

GK110/112 (whichever will be in the 780/785) has my vote biggrin.gifthumb.gif

No. One screen, I don't think you'd really be that affected. Only in games where you have the settings cranked that have been known to use up the memory.

BF3 is about as heavy as it gets for my game load. I believe the only time it goes above is multimonitor I think.

Also is there anything else to consider? Or basically this is better than 7970 at the moment? If so my 7970 is going up for $430-450 on OCN

If you look at the benchmarks, nvidia's card has terrible compute capabilities compared to the 7*** series. Can't wait to see real reviews so we can get the low down on all of this... even though it's obvious they sacrificed it for their PhysX format.
Can anyone point me to 7970 performance in something like open format v-ray rendering?

YEs, a card just released loses to one with 4 months of driver updates.

If it wasn't HIS i'd take it off your hands quick.

I SO regret buying my 7970 right now. I mean, I've had so many terrible driver issues, I always wanted to actually get an Nvidia card but the 7970 came out and it was an impulse buy. If I can sell my 7970 and get the 680, I will be SO happy.

PShh... 2 year warranty and I didn't even register it. So it is all clean

Been an AMD/ATI user my whole life. Recently switched to Intel, no regrets at all. With this release i'll be cutting my final ties with AMD, going green! biggrin.gif
