"Only android does that" hold up android sucks...terrible os no matter what phone, i've never come across a good one in my life. i have a htc radar windows phone 4g, it beats the iphone by a mile, maybe not by having cool games to play with friends, but in cases of having a little processor and good os is what matters, android will slow down, apple is all marketing, windows phones are good for people who don't play games. other than that, windows phone stomps the iphone, 4g > 3g. internet is what we care for right?

Its integration capabilities far surpass iOS and Android. Think abut this, how many people use Windows at home? At work? Have XBoxes? they're all connection nodes to Microsoft. With Windows Phone they have the capability to do so much. More than Google can do with Android, way more.
In this case Linux would not be a smart move. Like I said above, Microsoft can offer something that neither iOS or Android can at this present time.
I really hope this new phone stirs things up. Apple have been sitting on their pile of cash instead of putting out some new and innovative stuff for far too long.

Which integration capabilities exactly are going to be better with Windows phone over Android? Android connects just fine with my Windows PC and the only possible reason I could see wanting to connect to an XBOX for would be mobile hotspot which my Android does just fine.

You can do whatever you want to them. Widgets on your lock screen, notification center, home screen, or wherever else you want.

Since when could you put any widgets on an iPhone lock screen or homescreen? Unless it's jailbroken, iOS is just rows of icons. What you see is what you get.

I guarantee both Windows 8 for PC and Win8 Phone are total flops. People are going to stick to Windows 7 for PC and iOS and Android for phone.

Those of you that criticize the Apple hate on this forum don't understand what this company is doing. They are not only destroying the entire wireless industry with their ridiculously high subsidies and pricing requirements, but they are also slowing the development of 4G. It won't be too long before we have to pay full price for our wireless devices like the rest of the world and Apple will be to blame.

They are also ruining REAL innovation by patent trolling. I'm not going into depth about these issues, the information is out there if you care to find out about it. Bottom line is, if Apple had their way everyone would be restricted entirely to their walled garden. Steve Jobs even vowed to destroy Android. Who vows to destroy something that is FREE and OPEN? Think about that for a minute.

Since 2007... Get with the program. I've been modifying my lock screens for years.... Who would use a non rooted Android or iPhone? It takes less than a minute to unlock them. Do you use limited access accounts on Windows too?

I agree with you however we pay more money than anyone by far for our cellular service because of subsidies. If Companies quit subsidizing phones and we paid full price our cellular service would be brought back into line. Besides, whats the difference between 200 or 300 dollars and 5 or 6 hundred when you look at the large scope of things?

It's not all functionality and it being "outdated", the iPhone was spammed everywhere constantly as a trend-setting device; of course people would buy it over everything else, nobody makes a "fashion" statement as much as Apple.

Nokia maanaged to make 1 model of a phone that has outsold every model of the iphone put together. Nokia wins in popularity hands down mate

It's not a popularity contest though. Popularity does not correlate directly to profit. Apple makes a good chunk of money on the iPhone, and a ton of money on apps and music for it. Which would Nokia rather have, hundreds of billions of dollars more, or the claim that they've made the most popular phone so far?

On-topic: I agree that the iOS is a bit dated, although it does improve over time. It could use a good overhaul though.

Yeh, but you are comparing one decade to another. Where is Nokia now in the heat of the competition for smartphone supremacy? They still have YET to thrill anyone.

One decade?

Bet you 100 dollars nokia still sells more phones than anyone in the world. They suck at smartphones sure, thing is, most of the world doesn't use smart phones. We do, because we like being better than everyone else, and we do it in idiotic and trivial material ways like having cooler phones (which are not better, I think everyone would agree dumbphones are better phones)

You can't use trends in America to relate to the entire planet, because we don't dictate what the rest of the world does, we aren't that important.

+Nokia knows what they are doing more than any of us, or they would have hired us long ago.
