F@H GPUv2 vs GPUv3

Thread Starter
Ok guys, I have been using GPUv2 to fold on my gpu's, 2xGTX260sp216 1x9600GSO 2x8500GT.

I was wondering if I would see any difference in PPD if I were to switch to the v3 client. Also, if anyone could tell me what the difference between the two was, I'd be forever grateful.

Also, on a side note, I've noticed that lately my 260 like to have a core shutdown issue and just stop folding costing me points. Any ideas on what could cause this and if an update to the v3 client could fix this?

No, you won't see any difference. v3 just allows you to download WUs for Fermi GPUs (while still maintaining backwards compatibility for non-Fermi GPUs).

As for the issues, upgrading probably won't fix it, but it's worth a try. :P

Slightly off the original topic, What is a passkey for and how do I get one? I see in numerous forms that having a passkey gets you the magical bonus points, but I thought it was used to differentiate groups of folders under the same team?

Nah, that's one of its (many) uses. For most people, its main use is for CPU Folding. If you have a passkey, after completing 10 CPU WUs, you get bonus points.
