I took a pic of my pci slots, can you identify if they are pic or APG( I do not know the appearance difference). I will post the pic on this thread soon. Sorry if I have the name for the old slot wrong. Also, do you think this had anything to do with it. I had a time while I was on my PC the power went out and that happened three times that day. My keyboard went today too so I think that killed it.

Well the only thing you should change in the BIOS is to disable the onboard audio. Even though it's dead I would still disable it. As far as buying the sound card it's not going to interfere with anything. Just check on the motherboard what slots you have open and buy a card that will fit in the slot. I'm pretty sure you would require a PCI sound card, as PCI Express (which is what some of the newer sound cards are) wasn't around in that point in time. You can still find PCI sound cards so it's not a big deal
