From what I saw at Toms Hardware, the GTX 680 was beating the 7970 at 1080P but losing at anything higher. So obviously the 7970 would start getting even better at the massive res your playing at, plus you can overclock the crap out of the 7970 to get better performance. At your res the 3GB will help a lot.

So either get the 7970, or wait for a 4GB GTX 680, or wait for GK110 which will definitely come out at the end of this year and should be insane.

If you aren't going to be using AA then you really won't see much/any benefit with more VRAM. You're current setup is fine. Hold off for a bit.

heh, I don't know, I know its not 800 tongue.gif

But I would LOVE LOVE to max my things out with AA. Specially in BF3. It needs it. But I'm liking the idea of waiting to get the 7970 until the 680 to come out, cause yeah, the price will drop.

I think that's what i might do, but I'm still willing to hear from everyone else. So please continue to let me know. Thanks!

Yes I think it would be stupid to buy the 7970 right before the GTX 680 comes out. I'm sure there will be some price cuts.

I didn't know there was going to be a 4GB 680. I think that sounds much better! biggrin.gif

If that's what I get, I think i'll sell my 480's, get a 7970, then right before the 4gb 680 comes out, sell the 7970 and get that 680 smile.gif

Anyone think that's a crappy idea?

I am sure there will be all sorts of different VRAM options available once they come out. Just like the silly 2GB 560s, lol.

I like how Nvidia fanboys monitor AMD/ATI graphic page to tell those interested in AMD to move over to Nvidia. (mind you I have owned 7 nvidia cards and three AMD over the years)

A 7970 will be a better choice since it has more vram and at that resolution it will be used. Plus, the 7970 is already a ridiculously fast card.
