Yes please!!! I'll get 2, and my friend said he'd get 1 if it goes through!

I seem to be the only one who is skeptical that this will happen.  Strange.  I have contacted this same guy and have been less than impressed.  When asked to simply provide the PCBs to run them to 100hz he failed to be able to do that, yet he is going to be able to spec a special monitor (well really what is being asked for is a 2B model - peeps want all kinds of options, but that won't happen)?  Witech may be on the other end of this deal, but again I am really skeptical.

I am hoping something works out here - hoping.  But after a week of chats with multiple suppliers I have been underwhelmed to say the least in getting 100hz PCBs, let alone a re-hash of the 2B monitor.

not the only one. I was thinking myself it would probably be easier to get the pcb than build a whole lcd with special specifications. I actually voted maybe in the poll, b/c special order could be much more expensive (unless they can build the stripped down one w/o stand, speakers etc)
post #184 of 1131
id take one and if the pcb was obtainable id prolly take one of them tongue.gif

Tempered glass + 100Hz? (Actually 85 cause running ATI when get + dithering).

MY BODY IS READY!

Although, if anyone has a guide to doing a DIY tempered glass solution (since it appears the tempered glass is just some adhesive and stuck to the front of a non glassed model...) + we could actually just use magnets instead or something...

I'd buy at least two if it's 80Hz+ guaranteed and under $500 shipped.

I would love to get 3 as well. (coming from [H])

This is basicly what we are getting down to. feel free to come with input!
Yamakasi Catleap Custom Q270
  • Panel: LG S-IPS 27" 2560x1440 (Option to pay exstra for A+ rated panel if possible / Perfect Pixel)
  • Refresh Rate: >= 100hz (120 hz PCB)
  • MS: <= 6
  • Connections: Single connection only (DP or DUAL-DVI)
    "Single connection to reduce/remove input lag, If possible both DP and DUAL-DVI with manual switch to reduce input lag (no board processing/detection)"
  • No Speakers
  • No Tempered Glass (to avoid dust caught behind)
  • No Anti-Gloss Coating
  • No OSD On Screen Display (for reduced input-lag)
  • No Scalar (for reduced input-lag)

Whishes (if possible):
  1. Smaller/thinner/simpler bezel. (Screen border/edge)
  2. Solid stand (pivot if possible) but if it isn't more stable, leave it as it is, or remove it to lower price.
  3. (Less to none) branding and stickers.
But we would settle with 2B'like monitors (if customising isn't possible)?

You should be unwavering in your request. This can be a lot of money made for this guy/company.

Zero stand should be a requirement and not a wish.
DP should be listed as preferable.
Plus all the other No's you have listed.

A wish could be for the A+ panel. along with the bezel size.

People are almost guaranteeing their going to buy at least 2. You can up the offer to 200-300 monitors bought if he can push hard to get us the Bare minimum that would drive prices to the 250-280 range per monitor and thats not including it having to be A+. No dead pixels is almost never a guarantee even with the $1k the dells and apples go for if you ask me. So i can compromise on them not having to stress making the panels dead pixel free.

While understanding that most people here are PC-users, I suggest that DP be a preferred option as well, so that this monitor will be more attractive to Mac users.
If it's just DVI-D, the adaptor costs considerably more.

Also to test for compatibility with older dedicated GCs mini-DP macbooks, and current thunderbolt macbooks.

Seriously if this person could actually supply a monitor with a 120hz PCB on a 1440P monitor, then demand will be the least of his worries.
