No speakers, no displayport no glass. Keep it simple & cheap.

Fully agree with this.
Keep stuff as minimal and easy for assembly as possible.
I'd just like a small bezel biggrin.gif or how hard is it to just remove the existing one and try to slim it down or something? Hell, I'll do it myself if I need to.

What I'm realistically expecting from this is:

2560x1440 with hopefully 80-120Hz refresh
Glossy or Matte, don't care. (Prefer glossy, really)
Black everything else
Cheap stand (can buy/mod/make one if I have to)
DVI input

Many thanks for all the work being put into this and for finally getting me to make an account after lurking for so long.

The monitor itself is capable of 120hz. Your video card (except GTX 680) is not. Even GTX 680 is not a sure bet, and 3D vision doesn't work with these monitors anyways (driver problems). And even if it did, you cannot SLI gtx 680s at 120hz, thus you will be limited to 120hz 1440p over a single GTX 680; a herculean task indeed.[/quote]

im sorry but what do you mean when you say you cant SLI GTX 680's at 120 Hz? yet you can with a single 680? why is this?

Agreed. No stand would be preferable, as I'm most likely going to buy a mount from Monoprice regardless.

Nvidia drivers limit the pixel clock to 400 mhz when in SLI. Nvidia drivers limit previous generation of GTX cards to the 400 mhz limit, which corresponds to a ~100hz refresh. When using a single GTX 680, you can push your pixel as far as the card will let you.

Just the vanilla Catleap with the 2B controller is enough for me. Hope the price premium won't be too high, a 100Hz 1440p monitor for around $400 would be nice.

Is it somehow possible to connect this monitor at 2560x1440x60hz with only d-dvi to a laptop that has only VGA and micro hdmi outputs (and usb3...)?

Specifically the Asus UX31A which should come out quite soon (within 2 month) and will probably have the same connectors as the old UX31E.

I would be interested in purchasing 3-4 of these for me and a friend of mine.

I think I read a VGA to DL-DVI adapter existed, but definitely not HDMI to DL-DVI.

Pretty much no laptops will run 2560x1440 aside from MacBooks with DP or serious gaming laptops.

This thread is out of hand. I am trying to stay informed, but with dozens of side discussions, it is a bit tough...and my post is just making it worse. smile.gif Would be nice if we could keep the chatter to a minimum so we can detect when actual info is released.

IMO, it's also unrealistic to be asking for specific tweaks. This is a very small production run...if it happens. If they do anything, we'll be lucky...and if they do, delivery will not likely be for months...so temper expectations.
