I hit 90Hz with a 4870X2 using Powerstrip (although crossfire mostly doesn't work at that refresh rate, not surprising). I think Hypermatrix hit 100Hz or 105Hz though...

You can assume it's infinite until we need to use better metals (the new copper alloy etc) smile.gif

This in most cases appears to be above the naive limit of around 90Hz or so; as HyperMatrix has shown refresh rates of 120Hz and higher are possible with the right hardware.

ah! thanks for the info smile.gif

bQvle can you please do a proper update in the first post of the thread, and keep it updated? It looks like there has been no progress for weeks.
It's quite a hassle to have to read all the latest post to know where this project is at.

Can't wait to order a couple of the new monitors.

Hehe, I'm getting excited. Starting to eye myself a couple 680's perhaps...

Any news on if they are doing any customization on them or will they be the same as the 2Bs people have already?

For anyone just tuning in, the deal seems set to go. thumb.gif

Maybe 6-10 weeks til they actually roll them out to us? Never dealt with this kind of thing to know really.

Does the 2b version overclocking still valid with a CF/SLI configuration ?!

Stalking this thread for at least 3 weeks now, decided to make an account on here and hardforum as well tongue.gif

Are we still looking at May-June to be the release time of these overclocked monitors? Will there be any other differences that have been truly revealed? 0.o

Yes and no, you can't overclock as high in SLI/CF because they force a lower pixel clock rate (680 drops to about 100Hz max instead of the 130+ we've seen). Still overclocked, but not as much.

On nVidia's 680, not AMD to my knowledge.

I am currently using a u2711 @ 2560x1440. The reason I am interested in one of these, is 100% the overclockable refresh rate. - My hope is that the picture quality won't be so dramatically worse than my u2711 monitor that the 'simultaneous upgrade and downgrade' to the Catleap Q270 will bring with it a sense of regret.

The picture quality of this monitor has always been exceptional - however my friends tend to favor 120hz screens. And I always have to choose between loosing my resolution and picture quality and gaining a great sense of smoothness (which I do see, by the way. My friend who owns the monitor can't really tell any fps beyond 60, he just notices his mouse moves smoother on the desktop, whereas I am bewildered as the games he plays literally glide across the screen).

I don't really want three screens, and I am not interested in competitive gaming other than the occasional battlefield 3 session. I was planning on selling my 6990 and getting a gtx 680, which would be a slight downgrade - but perform a lot smoother - Crossfire/Multi gpu tends to microstutter a bunch. I think I will hold onto my u2711, even if I do order one of these monitors. Just in case it arrives and has underwhelming PQ.

What would guys/gals (but probably guys), think about doing in my situation? Moving ahead with the experiment? Or sticking with the safe bet - and waiting a year or so until 2560x1440 @ higher than 60hz monitors start to becoming something more than a pipe dream?

Also, did my vote just send it into 666 votes? Mark of the devil? OMG.
