I'm confused as to why some motherboards claim they support 1600mhz ram when oc'ed yet some don't, does this mean I cant pair up the following? confusedsmiley.png

Samsung DDR3 PC1600: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

with one of these?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138283

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138199

I'm looking for a BUDGET mobo, to replace mine, and fit that ram. less than $75 if I can help it.

I.e. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138290R

I'm open to ANY suggestions.

Features I want:

Am3
Core unlocker
Easy OC potential
non clustered (large video card covering ports etc)
handle 8gb of ram

Would be nice but not needed:

usb 3.0
am3+
Black and red (totally not required, any color will do)

The RAM is compatible with the boards you linked to.

This is a good board for the money and with the promo code an additional 10% plus free shipping puts it right in your price range.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280

If your looking for micro ATX than try this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131795

As for OC I wouldn't suggest that on any of them except for the 970.

See, I'm def gonna be Oc'ing, but hardly any boards are Micro ATX!!!! It's got to be to fit in my case and im really looking to spend under 150 on the ram+mobo, 250 is only if i HAVE to.

so witht he ram being 47, about 100 bucks does it for a board.

I would avoid MSI boards unless it's a 9 series due to dodgy VRMs. Stick with ASRock, ASUS and Gigabyte.

Completely avoid low end MSI boards due to likely VRM problems.  Avoid the Biostar boards that have 3+1 phase or lower if you're giong to attempt pushing a high-TDP processor of any sort.  Look to a board with 4+1 phase power and you WILL need to add additional VRM cooling if you wish to use anything other than the stock CPU cooler or downward-blowing cooler.

Looks like the Biostar Board is the only one that come with VRM heatsink installed.

The ASUS M5A88-M, is looking to be the only board Worth the money, adding a heatsink to the VRM, but whats going to fit that board??
