The mouse is cheap too (can be had for roughly 20-30 dollars) and is worth every penny.

It's a good option, just not for everyone as it's quite heavy. Another option would be checking if the Abyssus does indeed work on cloth mats without ripple, but that still leaves people on cloth mats who like lightweight mice without a good option.

Spawns around 85-87g. I kinda wish it was 5~ or so grams heavier. :x

Spawn is heavy? always felt like it was one of the lighter mice around, but i guess it would be heavy in comparison to an abyssus.

I've always found that it's much easier to make a mouse heavier than it is to make it lighter. In the past i would open my mice up and remove any excess weights that might have been attached. I guess you could always try the opposite and just add weights to the inside, but that might be troublesome for some.

I normally prefer light mice, infact I was fine with the abyssus and other smaller shapes.

I just feel that the spawn could use a tiny bit more weight to contrast the design. Maybe 90-92g max. I've thought about gluing down weights, but i'm not really comfortable with the idea biggrin.gif

Ye, that's the problem of going with lightweight mice. They all seem unbearably heavier afterwards.

Might try to get a Spawn then, instead of a (far heavier) G400 or EC2, and see if it cuts it for me, but atm I'm happy with the Abyssus sensor -not extremely fond of the shape though, but I'll get used to it, eventually.

Considering not extremely lightweight mice, the Spawn seems a great option with the newest SROM/firmware indeed.

@ Skylit : maybe there's an empty space inside where you can put a small "coin" of plumber or similar non-conductive material wink.gif

Increases the perfect-control-speed by a lot.

The AM now has about 3m/s.
With a newer SROM it would be .. what, 5 m/s?

Tracking speed depends on firmware, MCU and how it's programmed. Whoever is working for zowie did fairly well with the initial SROM and native 1800 CPI value as their lens bottlenecks max IPS.

A SROM update alone won't increase IPS, but it could contribute depending on programing methods. Maybe someone experienced in this field can comment.
