[IGN] Mass Effect 3: New Ending Incoming

Earlier this month, BioWare responded to Mass Effect 3's "polarizing" ending and later confirmed that it was considering making changes. Now, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka has confirmed that new content is in the works to provide additional closure.

In a post on the company's official site, Muzyka said that the team has been carefully following the reactions of fans and has made the decision to respond.

Will it cost something?

It still won't feel right.

To me the ending that was released with the game will stay with me forever as the "proper" ending. Nothing will change that now.

50,000+ people?

Far more than that. They had a poll on their forum and it had over 200,000, nearing 300,000 last time I was there, and everyone said they were unsatisfied with the ending, only about 60 people said they liked it. Also, junctions filed to the FTC, the BBB giving them an F in customer satisfaction, people pointed out tons of plot holes.

The post that guy gave was spoon-fed crap though. "Our best work to date."

What? None of your fans would agree with you, which from a business standpoint is bad if you think your best work is the ones your customers like the least.

I don't visit their forums regularly, was referring to the people here http://www.facebook.com/DemandABetterEndingToMassEffect3 But it's good to know that there are a lot more.

I didn't interpret Muzyka's statement the same way IGN and Kotaku seem to be. I think they may be adding back some of the cut content at the end. The whole drawn out conversation with the godchild that was cut probably ought to be put back in if it helps to make some sense of that really bizarre and illogical ending. I don't think there's any real admission that they're altering the ending, just clarifying it to give some closure and some answers to all the supposed plot holes. It'd be nice if BioWare jumped on the fan theory of indoctrination, since it's the only thing that thematically makes sense within the series, but I'm pretty sure that this ending is meant to be taken at face value.

I am one of those people who actually ignored the plotholes in the ending and saw what BioWare meant to do. I was not that disappointed. Would I say it is the proper ending for the trilogy? Yes I think that synthesis suits it well. Now is it the ending I expected given how I build the relationships in me1 and 2? No so I am very happy that they will do the effort.

I read the blog too and I did not see any definitive answer that they will redo the ending. Maybe I was drunk.

^^^ This...

I did not think the ending was that bad...I have seen far worse. Of course I had read how the ending sucked so many times before I actaully finished it, so maybe my expectations were lower than most people and that is why I didn't think it was that bad. I do agree though that it was bad that none of your choices made during the game, besides the final one had any impact on the ending.
