NVIDEA GRAPHICS CARD CRASHING - Page 2

To be honest, I'm glad you gave up on going 6600gt-SLI, that would be a waste. Even if you were to find a shop with the card in stock, the card is very outdated.
My point in the earlier post was, that you can't really quench any more power out of this card, 50mHz tops on the core clock, and maybe 50 on the memory as well. And then the lifespan of the card would be a few months from what I read.
I don't know what your price range is, but this SPARKLE GTX520 costs $50 and would be an upgrade of dimensions I imagine.
I'm no good with AMD cpus, sorry.

I finished my rig builder and I am ok with shortening the lifespan of the card.... Actually I'm not sure if I will overclock it at all now but I really want to know what is making it crash... Software or is it the psu?
Your PSU is fine for your current setup, pretty much spot-on in fact. So I guess that leaves us with a software mash-up. Now just to clarify:
The card is not crashing when playing minecraft or while doing any other daily activites, correct?
The card only crashes when putting it under extreme stress-testing such as Kombustor / Furmark / OCCT, correct?

yes that is correct. and i know its pointless stress testing it but if it isnt passing a stress test then i kinda wanna know why

wait a sec i have the newest drivers and all that and also i have stress tested with numerous programs so it isnt just this one giving errors... i have all the newest drivers so what do i have to download
post #16 of 16
I can't be certain of course, but the 6600GT is an old card, and the stress tests might simply be too harsh on it since they're made for higher performance cards. My old 9600GT would also have a hard time when I was trying to overclock it - which I gave up on since it didn't pass anything either.
I don't want you to have the feeling that I'm giving up on you, but I don't know of anything other than 3DMark06 that you can use as an alternative stress testing / performance testing program. It should be the closest thing to an optimized piece of software for your card which doesn't put it over the edge.
If you test it with 3D06, please reply smile.gif
