Can't get new DDR 2133 ram past 1600mhz

Hey guys,

Was wondering if you could help me with this over clock? Its been a while since I've done this.

I recently purchased the following ram: GSkill Ripjaw 8gbs DDR3 2133 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231476).

Here are my current overclock settings (stable):
Quote:
CPU Ratio: 21
BCLK Frequency: 200
PCIE Frequency: 100
DRAM Frequency: 1603
UCLK Frequency: 3809

CPU Voltage: 1.3875
CPU PLL: 1.88
QPI DRAM Core Voltage: 1.33750
IOH Voltage 1.2
ICH Voltage .2

Dram Bus: 1.66

(1) In order to boost ram MHz, I increase DRAM Frequency to next step, 2005MHz.

(2) Next, I increased UCLK Frequency from minimum value of 4009, to next step of 4211 (I assume this has to be at least twice 2005, thus 4009 is on decimal too low).

(3) Next, left DRAM Bus voltage the same at 1.66. From the reviews, this ram seems to perform with only 1.65, thus I'm trying to avoid bumping up the voltage. The next step up would be 1.68 volts for ram.

(4) Next, I left QPI/DRAM Core Voltage at 1.3375.

When I restart the computer, I simply get a blank screen! Please let me know what you guys think?

I was having issues with my RAM overclocking to Spec a couple weeks ago. Same issue. Black Screen no post after increasing settings. Tried all kinds of things. In my case a motherboard BIOS update did the trick. Not sure if you have the same issue, but worth a try to check and make sure your bios is up to date.

Right as you posted that, and right as my computer went to hell with this Bad Bios Checksum error (see above edit), I read this somewhere and was about to try it. Sight, must first get BACK into bios.

So, I got past the checksum error I previously got (randomly went away when I restarted). Now its a matter of updating the bios before I move forward. I still welcome any info you guys have on the topic.

Uncore/IMC on your 930 is probably losing stability at higher clocks.

Ive had six Bloomfields, and none of them could run a 24/7 stable uncore clock in excess of 3.9GHz, and most topped out in the 3.4-3.7GHz range.

Most people running tri-channel DDR3-2000+ on Bloomfields are using stupid high QPI/VTT voltage under water. Even my golden chip needed around 1.45v QPI/VTT to bench 12GiB of DDR3 2000 with a 4GHz UCLK.

4.2GHz uncore, not core? With only 1.34 QPI/VTT?

Check the timings stated on the memory to the timings that your bios has set. Sometimes you need to set these manually and then change your memory multiplier to 21.33
post #9 of 9
Blameless is right, you really would need a bloomfield chip with a great IMC to handle 2133Mhz memory 24/7. With the chip on air/water you don't want to use more than ~1.45V VTT for extended periods. You would be better off running lower frequency memory, the 2133 Mhz kit should be able to tighten the timings nicely running a lower strap though.
