Well, I got the PNY ones cause I wasn't sure if the other company left (Dragon or something....) was any good and I didn't want to waste time seeing if they were comparable. The PNYs were $534.99 each.

I have to worry a little that they are going to be weaker than the 7970s in one way or another for NVidia to have such a price differential involved. I have to wonder if the 7970s are maybe better at multimonitor setups or something due to all the extra memory. Hopefully we will see some reviews tonight or tomorrow that scale the performance to very high resolutions.

Actually, come to think of it, the price differential isn't terribly huge. I paid around $579.99 for my XFX Black Editions. That is only around $45 difference.

I'm actually pretty psyched because I want PhysX and more stable drivers. I have used ATI the last couple of round because I tend to buy the first cards out. I did the same this time also, but I have two systems that need cards, so whichever one turns out to be the best for running the three monitors at 7680x1600 will end up being a quadfire setup, while the loser will end up in my HT system for 1920x1080 gaming on a projector. It is a win win situation for me really....

Why the preference for EVGA? The trade-in program?

Their recent global warranty change is a big one, and the step-up is just an added bonus

EVGA stands firmly behind its entire product line. Products purchased on or after July 1st, 2011* will have a minimum of a 3 year warranty, registration is optional. The warranty will no longer be non-transferable, and new bonuses will be available for those that do register within 30 days of purchase!

3 year minimum warranty? That is just lovely.
