^Thanks for the instructions. Before I get into that, I want to know. After the steps in my last post, I:

-ran MSE, quick scan came up clean
-ran Malwarebytes, full scan came up clean
-checked both internal and external drive with both steps

So is there anything else I should run or check, or should I be okay?

So I'm okay?

Also, real lesson learned. Stick to Linux for pr0n. smile.gif

Just use no-script and firefox, and a good antivirus and scan everything. Ive never had issues. I prefer kaspersky but many will have other favorites.

After seeing the amount of google tracking scripts on damn near every website imaginible, ill never ditch the firefox/noscript combo.

thanks for all your help guys. Good thing I was ready to wipe everything. Gonna ditch this in two weeks for a Dell (not good by gaming standards, but for $350 it's fine).

First of all are you using a standard Windows disc or something scrounged off the Internet? Disc images from the web can be fine but not all are.

Second, are you deleting existing partitions? Because it would take one clever bugger to keep malware on a machine that has had its drive formatted.

Just start Windows installer, delete all existing partitions, then go through the install like normal. Malware should be gone.

EDIT: And then I read the rest of the thread. So you got the malware cleaned up, good.

you have any other problems, I would suggest running a live cd of a antivirus distro, or a regular distro and running clam av. a lot of virus can affect your a/v's ability to remove it, especially if the virus existed before the a/v was installed.
