Besides the use of Metro style applications, which launch directly from the start menu (again another improvement).
Anyone who believes in a release pattern like that should just delete their OCN account. I have never had problems with any of the Windows operating systems from 95 up till now. Even Vista was fine for me (other then being a resource hog). If you dislike a version of windows, it only proves you clearly don't know how to use it.

It may be only a Start interface now, but don't you think the plan is for all apps to migrate to Metro? What really concerns some of us is that this is the beginning of the "tabletization" of the PC. They can't just make the switch completely yet, because they still need to support existing apps. So in the meantime, we get this switching back and forth.

No, not that. It's wrong. XP was utter crap at first and Vista was great after SP1. Heck, apart from Windows 7 that's the only cycle...MS OS is crap at first, they release SP1 and it's a lot better.

I never said Windows 8 will suck and not sell, nor did I say Windows 8 will rock and sell a lot. I merely said everybody saying Windows 8 will fail doesn't matter, since it's sales that will show whether Windows 8 is a flop or not. Windows 7 sold quite a bit on release that is surprised everybody, if Windows 8 does the same then it's a success. So if I were you, I would reword your post. thumb.gif

Just a note: even tho Metro UI sucks, appearance alone does not make OS bad, it only affects user experience, insides are the only thing that matter as far as functionality, stability, security and performance go.
