You sold your GTX-580 for $300? What version and model was it? Was it a vanilla? 1.5GB?

This GTX 680 looks very nice honestly, i guess it's time to go high-end again so i'll probably buy one of this. i'd been very happy with the GTX 570-580-590 so this shouldn't disappoint me.

Considering new GTX580's go for as low as 360$ on Newegg.

I'd say he got a mighty fine deal for a used 580.

Look at this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162073&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4003003&SID=o3jxk47grsar

359$

Free shipping and all that.

He sold it for a nice price, 680 is changing stuff.

You are on an enthusiast forum. Even a side grade is not a waste of money. Not everyone around here cares if there current computer is getting 60+ FPS or not, the 680 is still a new piece of hardware to mess around with.

I've never gotten that logic. Why do we buy softer toilet paper when it cost so much more than the cheap stuff? Why do people buy fast cars when roads don't allow you to go over 75MPH? Etc.. Etc..

EVGA, Vanilla 1.5GB. That's what they are going for now... people selling them for about $320 on forums. No one in their right mind would pay more for a used 580 right now with the 680 launching at slightly over $500 today. You might be able to catch someone off guard and rip them off but that's about it...

Most of us do need, and definitely want, more than just a normal gtx 560 or 550 ti can provide wink.gif.

yeah i do understand that about higher end gpu's, but i believe the average pc gamer doesn't have an almost $1000 monitor that uses those resolutions or 3 smaller ones and if they did it would be cheaper to just do sli and buy the cheaper cards when the time is right, basically my main point all dwells down to money vs needs or wants. but you have a very good point thumb.gif

You forgot about underclock.net. The guys over there are trying to get their current cards to perform <=30 fps at all times since the human eye "can't" tell the difference, therefore anything over is a waste of power and a waste to the environment.

This so much ^^. I've told my friends this so many times, it gets them off of my back every single time.

Don't feel obligated to justify buying one if it's a decent upgrade. I'm not personally (not yet at least) because my GTX480 runs everything I ask it too.
