I've never gotten that logic. Why do we buy softer toilet paper when it cost so much more than the cheap stuff? Why do people buy fast cars when roads don't allow you to go over 75MPH? Etc.. Etc..

LOL ok i understand now and forgot the whole reason of this forum tongue.gif ill just shut up now

Do we know what the OC was on the GTX 680 to come so close to be able to beat an unlocked 6990?

I saw that chart and my jaw dropped. Here's to hoping that it is accurate thumb.gif There so many reasons for me to not get another 6970 if the 680 really overclocks like that. This is getting better and better. I hope all of this is true, if not oh well. It's been fun so far.

The OC 680 beat the 6990 easily, it's a stock 680 that is almost beating it. thumb.gif

590 destroyed by a single core card. I don't see any way the 7970 could overclock to those speeds.

I'm so glad I waited for the GTX 680 instead of picking up the 7970. Just going by the performance, the HD7970 seems like its last generation. What a monster.

Superior drivers, superior performance, superior performance/watt. Better in every category!

Because its better than the HD7970 in every way? Not to mention its cheaper and faster than the dual GPU video cards from last generation, which the HD7970 still can't beat.

I've posted this list before...

The nVidia GTX 680 seems to win on, compared to the Radeon 7970...

Price
Performance
Heat
Power consumption
Perf/watt
Perf/mm
Perf/price
Drivers
PhysX support
CUDA support for developers
Die size
Noise levels
AKA every conceivable measurable factor we know of.

Wow, so close to getting AMD's ticker removed from here:

I just wish my 2x eVGA 680's already had shipped last night/this night... I won't likely get them until Monday now since I used free shoprunner 2-day UPS shipping and it's coming cross-country if the package ships tomorrow (Thursday). Ah well, it'll be worth the wait.
