How did you get an X6 at such a low price?

bottom right

Live in Canada, no Microcenters near here. But will check out the shipping fees, that looks like an amazing deal

You could probably get a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P and an i3 2120 for the same price as a 990FXA-UD3 and an x4 960t.
It depends on what you use the PC for of course, and what components you are reusing.

I5 2400 - $179 ($10 off promo)

You'll be able to overclock that by changing the turbo core multiplier a small amount (I think about 3.8ghz), and that will cream AMD equivalents. I'm an AMD fan, always will be (last rig was a 990FXA-UD3 and 1090t at 4ghz), but I do think this is the best option currently.

I've always found Intel to be a too high up in prices and if I wanted a sandy bridge, I would shoot for the 2500K, maybe for my next build a few years down the road I will get an intel

This chip was awesome. I bought it back in November because I grew tired on waiting on FX not being sold out as soon as they hit the shelves. I used up til Jan. once I got my FX-8120. Was Prime stable at 4.25GHz @ 1.475v, 4.37GHz @ 1.525v

You could always pay someone to go buy it for you and ship it to you?
Would still be saving quite a bit over paying the extra $80 thumb.gif

Just when all hope was lost, a light of hope shined upon me as I remembered the NCIX Price Match service!

I will see if I could price match NCIX to the Micro Center bundle price. Diid anybody ever use the price match service before? Did it work? Please let me know!

blue,

for gaming you just need a good quad core. i suggest the 960T. if it unlocks, then it really becomes a budget chip.

quad, oc it to 4 - 4.2 GHz and call it a day. hurry before they run out.

get a good mobo and a cooler like a 212 together they will blend well with your 6850.

I'd just drop in a X4 960t into your current motherboard (which does support it) until you're totally ready to move beyond the Phenom series and THEN get a new motherboard. Nice performance boost for a small investment. Buying an 990FXA and slipping a Phenom into it for a couple years seems like a waste of money.
