You got to plug it in, won't work otherwise, bro smile.gif hahaha.

I dig the blue letters on the 680.

These offsets are kind of annoying. Too big of jumps. 1202 is stable, but the next jump is 1215 which crashes heaven. I'm back to after burner. I don't really think the added power thing does much. I'm at my max clock and I'm only drawing 84%

There is no way to turn off turbo boost? This is like turning off Stepping in CPU when you overclock because it is unstable. I'm starting to hate the boost and I rather want a fixed clocks in 3D mode.

Max Temp 69C with 85% Fan Speed.

Now some "off set" observations:

With my previous GTX 680 I scored 3DMark11 P9456 with higher off sets +125 / +110 / +200.

Funny how with less off sets on the GTX 680SC I scored higher 3DMark11 score 9617 at +110 / +75 / +100.

It seems that the 'off sets' for every card can vary and doesn't necessarily dictate how well your card will dynamically over clock itself. So we really shouldn't be stating our 'off sets' when we report to the club our scores but rather - Core & Memory min/max stats instead.

I will agree this is something we need to stop stating as it's causing much confusion for those newer to the over clocking that come to the club thread to learn.

If we stay consistent in stating minimum and maximum Core & Memory Mhz we will eventually figure out what kind of dynamic over clocking is going on behind the scenes.

Lastly, we will acheive higher Core clocks when EVGA releases the BIOS Fan Unlocker for the cards. Right now reaching 85% is limiting us from true potential.

Well I'm off to Frag in BF3 and go maximum settings in Crysis 2 testing. Poor me. tongue.gif
People have been saying over and over not to post offsets. But for some reason everyone keeps doing it. Hopefully it will catch on eventually.

What exactly is this new bios supposed to do ? Just allow a higher fan speed? Because my card never goes over 50c and it hasn't really helped much. If at all.

The being able to go over 85% to 100% fan option will allow to run higher core by keeping the GPU cooler than 70% so it will be able to achieve higher benchmarks and gaming FPS if you don't mine the extra fan noise.

Drivers are much, much better. Haven't had a single crash since switching, and I didn't do a clean install or anything... Just uninstalled the AMD drivers, ran driver sweeper and installed the nvidia card + drivers. Everything has just worked.
Overclocking my card was simple...super-simple, took maybe 30 minutes with 3dmark11 to find a clock that has since been stable. There is no 'disabled this' or 'run this patch' to get back your overclocking features, like there is with AMD and their 12.3 drivers. In fact, I haven't been in the registry once since switching.
Worth it? Yes. Two nights in a row I have gamed continuously until 2AM, problem free. If I had to estimate, I would say I have gotten more gaming time in with this 680 in two days than I was able to get during the entire month I had with the 7970 crossfire due to having to continuously troubleshoot issues with the shoddy AMD drivers. I can actually finish matches in BF3 now without bluescreens... Most importantly, my monitors can go to sleep without bringing down my entire system when I wake them back up...and no, I don't see 'turning features off' as a valid fix for something like that, either. It should work out-of-the-box, or be disabled by default.
I know this is probably subjective, but the IQ seems better with the 680.

Thanks for taking the time to write out your experience.

When you say the IQ is better, do you think it's a placebo effect because if it's something you notice, then it's a big deal if the 680 offers better performance AND better IQ. I did see Tom's article on how the 7970 sacrifices IQ for performance but it's super pixel peeking if it's true at all. If it was a blind comparison do you think you'd be able to tell the 680 and 7970 apart?

How are games running for you? I know it isn't a super fair comparison because you moved from CF to single 680 but when the 7970s DID work, was it smooth? These are the current games I am playing at the moment: Left 4 Dead 2, BF3, Metro, and Crysis 2. Only L4D and BF3 run flawlessly as in literally, butter smooth. Metro and Crysis 2 can't be said the same. I run a 1080p 60hz Dell U2311h and I enable vsync to eliminate screen tearing and reduce heat+fan noise because it caps my FPS at 60. These two games will 90% of the time stick at 60fps, but very frequently, it would dip to 57-59 causing a millisecond of stutter which is quite annoying, but playable. It would happen at random when nothing is stressing it. I am wondering if this is a game problem, or AMD CF driver problem. It shouldn't be a power issue as when I disable vsync, my FPS is mostly above 100 and doesn't dip into 57-59 as noted.

Does SLI 680 or single have the problems I mentioned for the games of it "stuttering" randomly? My CF has no problem with BF3 and L4D at all, but still sucks as I play these 4 games, and half are somewhat problematic.

I understand the logic. But I went from air to water and the clocks didn't get any better. I guess if you had a really bad case and the current fan settings weren't cutting it. But my Max temp is 50c and my oc hasn't gotten any better.

Not annoyed, it's just inconsistent clock. I know if you disabled it, it will kill the purpose of the card but I want to see and get to stable clock easily without running into different clock numbers every game or benchmark.

I know it has been repeatedly asked, but besides EVGA, what card should I get for slapping on a waterblock? I'm asking because EVGA is out of stock, and has been for about a week now...
Like, do I have to remove stickers for swapping the stock cooler of an Asus or Gigabyte model? I know Gainward and MSI do.

At the moment I can get an Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Gainward and Club3D model..
