So maybe it's just a problem with Unigine Heaven 3.0? rolleyes.gif

I would say the graphics score is right on. Single card is about 11000

So after all my problem of GPU usage dropping was because the cards were not stable.

Had to drop the core from 1280MHz down to 1270MHz. All is good now including +500MHz Memory! thumb.gif

I got out of PC gaming quite a while ago after having it as my main games platform since the 386 SX-16 ..., but what little time I had catered more to the plop on sofa for half hour type stuff. Well, I still don't have any time... but something came over me and I got the urge to get back into PC gaming. My last gaming card was a Radeon 9700 Pro... which I recall cost me more than I just paid for a GTX 680. Man...

Anyhow, I'm excited to finish building my new gaming PC which as of now I am only waiting for Ivy Bridge to come out of the gates for. I've always preferred nvidia (9700 Pro notwithstanding) and pretty much decided that the GTX 680 was for me but thought I was going to have a bear of a time getting one before the IB release and thought I was going to have to just go for the 7970 after all. Placed an order (backorder) at a Canadian online retailer which I love to bits these days last night, and to my surprise they shipped out an EVGA 680 Superclock this afternoon... big surprise. Even better, I got it for only $509 Canada Bucks.

Can't wait to get back into the PC... I use PCs every day (I'm a software developer by profession) but haven't played a decent PC game in ages. I specifically avoided the likes of Skyrim on consoles because I knew I wanted to play it on the PC so I'm even getting to taste things like that for the first time on my new 680 soon. DIII CE is already preordered... hoping Intel just releases those damn chips sooner than expected now. And before we get into an argument about how IB isn't a big deal, it really boils down to a "why not?" situation at this point for me.

I have no interest in surround gaming and currently just have a 24" 1080p 3D display so I'm counting on a single 680 getting me through at least a number of years.

omg so hard to decide. a 7970 for 470$ or wait in stepup for 3 months and pay 50$ and get the 680
post #2089 of 6048
Damn... 7970s got a huge price drop. So sick.

$30 less than a 680 is the difference, not enough to give up Nvidia for an AMD card IMO.
