Our OP set up a self entry into the club. [Offficial] NVIDIA GTX680 Owner's Club - only thing we can't do is update info. That has to be done with a PM to the OP. biggrin.gif

Ok, so we have the exact same BIOS and yours will boost over stock boost speeds unlike mine. Wonder what else it could be? Guess My card doesn't want to go the extra mile with boost.

Any chance you can do another run in Heaven for me when you get time and check what the Max power consumption goes up to in the GPU-z sensors tab? Maybe my card just won't pump the extra power in like others for some reason.

I don't run afterburner, but the dips are similar as they are only for a split second, but noticeable when you are dipping more than a couple of frames.
It happens at almost any setting though, not just high AA.
Even games like Fifa 12 which are simple to run stutter like crazy, but some are better than others. D3 beta was decent for example, while nba2k12 is unplayable and sometimes lags to the 30s for no reason.
This same setup was playing everything perfectly with sli 570s a couple weeks ago, so it's not something crazy, it's just the card or the drivers. I'm hoping it's the drivers since I just installed a waterblock on my 680 yesterday assuming it was the drivers lol.
Heres a link to a thread on the nvidia boards about the problem:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=226227

I experience this a bit with the 301.10 driverset, noticed it a lot more with the 301.24 beta. Diablo 3 was terrible, I would get a constant 60fps standing still but every few steps and new scenery loading it stuttered like crazy and my card was running at 500-600mhz the entire time. Hopefully it's driver related.

You may just have a weak clocker man. Either way I think you may be over thinking it a bit. biggrin.gif

Have you seen this thread. He gets some pretty nice clocks with a volt mod.

Sounds like you overclocked your Core too high and when turbo boost kicks in it becomes unstable therefore crashing the drivers response. You will need to lower your Core clock until you find that stable ground.

The best way to overclock is to start at base and gradually higher increments until it becomes unstable. Then you back down one increment and you have found stable ground.

Remember there is dynamic overclocking going on behind the scenes which boosts your core clock higher than what you've originally set it to.

I haven't overclocked it at all. still running stock as I have only had it for a few days.
So overclocking is def not at fault here. Its just during Battlefield 3 that the issue occurs. Its fine in other games...

Risen 2 downloading right now. I somehow doubt it is going to run properly w/ SLI and surround. /crosses_fingers
**update** maybe it will, it's listed in the beta drivers. /dance

Hmm, that thread has pretty much everything I would have tried. I think you're right and you may be experiencing something related to a driver issue. The two things I would have tried first would have been triple buffering and setting the Power Management to performance (I forget the exact name, not at home). Basically the Power Management will keep the cards from downclocking to conserve power while gaming. thinking.gif

Yeah those are the first things I tried as well, stops the downclocking which helped, but the small stutters still remain... mad.gif
