To the guy talking about cherry picked, the AMP! and DC version are not cherry picked.
Also, the 670 is on average 5% slower than 680 when both are at stock.
The AMP/DC versions are 1% slower to 6% faster than 680 stock.
The 670 can OC to approx 1200 on core. And on the 680s, it seems the average card doesnt do 1200 on core.
Nvidia - releasing "high end" GPU - sell it for skyhigh price. Releases another "lower" end card - just as high end, but cheaper.
Way to screw consumers.

Most of the time reviewers get cherry picked cards, even if the GPU itself isnt cherry picked for that model.

And while I have no real stats I see most people here seem to beat 1200 on the core (maybe people with worse don't post, idk).

You can be a pessimistic douchebag if you want but you still have one hell of a card. Nvidia probably aren't aiming to screw themselves over and make less profit. Just maybe.

It's not screwing the customers. You guys paid the premium to be among the first to have the cards, it has always been this way. So what if they are within 5% of each other and $80 cheaper, you payed extra cause you couldn't wait like the rest of us to see what the market brought.

I'm sorry but I have to agree. I think we are all kind of over it.

Im not sure why everyone is complaining, the 680 is a hell of a card, I wouldn't sell mine for what i paid for them and buy 2 670s, the highest end card always retains is value more, and mine are pretty damn fast

Not all of us are complaining. Not at all upset about the 670--it was a smart move on Nvidia's part. A bunch of people are going to get awesome performance for $400. That's great!

You can get them for 7870 pricing..
Yeah actually anyone with a 680 has nothing to complain about. It's still going to edge over the 670 when both over clocked so it's a premium to pay for top dog. The 7950 comes pretty darn close to the 7970 just as much and yet you don't hear the 7970 member whining.

Now let's look back at last year when the 6970 came out and was a great card, AMD fans cheered. Then the 6950 comes out and with a simple BIOS update unlocks the shaders to full 6970 potential. That 6950 sold like hot cakes for almost an entire year out selling 6970's, 560Ti's and some settled for less performance rather than pay 580 premium for king of the hill card. Until vendors starting to laser cut the cards so it couldn't be unlocked any longer, it wasn't until then that the 560Ti started to be a comparable card and Nvidia started to regain the market in that category.

Now we have the GTX 670 which is on par with stock 680 / 7970 performance and better than a 7950 that's selling for $30 less. The new price / performance king for the budget consciousnesses is the GTX 670 over 680 / 7970 & 7950. Now Nvidia can sit back and watch sales sore make up some lost ground. AMD's cards are all out and cards on the table. We know where they lay, and no new moves to compete until the end of the year.

For those of us that can't think of the thought we're missing out on one single SMX we'll gladly pay the premium. Epeen is Epeen and the 680 / 7970 is still going to win on benches at the end of the FPS day even if slightly greater it's still better.

If your not happy and willing to dump your 680 for slightly less performance and are happy doing that by all means do so. But your not going to get better performance, your going to get better price per performance almost on par when over cloicked but just behind the eight ball. If your unhappy now your going to be slightly unhappier for the performance down grade but happier in the wallet. I would take the latter any day.

Let's watch what the 670 starts to bring in terms of real world performance as numbers start to roll in. The reviews we're reading are never really over clocked correctly and most are stock vs stock. Right now we're going to see binned cards on the 670 pre-launch to hype the public. It's worked.

If you want real performance and can't take the FPS your getting now SLI that sucker or move to the 690. thumb.gif
