I use the 301.34s, I had no increases in benchmarks, the "better" driver theory is a myth

Agreed. Using all of the available driversets I get the same benchmark scores across the board. Game performance is also the same when benchmarking, but notably smoother with the 301.34 at the same FPS.

I've tired TwinFrozr design before and liked it when I owned a 6870 crossfire, but everyone who owns the Winforce has had good things to say. Only thing that gets me being a bit of a designed modder us the blue PCB vs black for aesthetics reasons only. In this case the choice is personal if you out weigh what's more important to you.
I'm an EVGA guy after having tried then and used thier tech support with my 580. It was superior over when Ive called Sapphire. I've never used MSI so can't tell you any first hand on that.
Good luck with what you choose. I know you live in Turkey so your experience may vary over us in the States. If aesthetically the blue PCB dosent bother you, hands down go the Gigabyte. thumb.gif

Thank you for the detailed response. Here in Turkey at the moment we only have reference models and the OCed versions are yet to surface. I just purchased an SLI motherboard. Asus Sabertooh z77 but i will pick it up in USA when i go there. I will try to sell my 590 here and pick up 1 680 now and pick the 2nd 680 later when we have a deal on these cards.

Now that i have an SLI motherboard i will probably get 2 680s and forget about dual GPU cards. It is very vrey hard to sell them here in Turkey. 580s are sold easily in 1 day but a 590 is sold really hard. Thats why i will have to say goodbye to Dual GPU setups.

Hello there guys once again.

I've been having issues with high pitch noise "coil whine".

Problem: When in games and Heaven Dx11 benchmark I get a high pitch noise coming from my PC, this does not happen in games menus so i guess it's not because of high FPS as v-sync is enabled.

The test done so far:

- Took my PSU out of the case and put it to the other side of the case and the noise was coming from the inside of the case, PSU made no noise.

- Swapped the 680 with a XFX 8800GTS 320mb card and it made weird noise but not as loud, was bit quieter, you had to listen to hear it.

- Swapped AX850W PSU with my old Coolermaster 550W PSU and 680, the PC still made the same noise.

- Swapped AX850W PSU with my old Coolermaster 550W PSU and 8800GTS, the PC made bit quieter noise, you had to listen to hear it.

- Took my Gigabyte 680 to my friends and tested it on his 600W OCZ PSU the 680 did not make any loud whine noise but a quieter whine noise was still there(it was bearable).

- Installed my Gigabyte 680 to my dads PC and tested it with my old Coolermaster 550W PSU the 680 did make the whine noise but not as loud.

- Installed my Gigabyte 680 to my dads PC and tested it with my AX850W PSU the 680 did make the whine noise but not as loud.

I really don't know what to make of this, i am seriously breaking down guys. I just want to throw the PC out of the window =[

What should I do???

As far as im aware there is nothing you can do about coil whine apart from change the part and hope the next GPU doesn't do it. However it will not do any damage. Is it louder than the fans in your PC?

@Mariusmsj - well but I know that the coil line can be disturbing in the sense that it's not running exactly perfect however it's not harming your system. And I also realize that after paying $500 you do not want to deal with this coil whine.

If it's any consolation the AMD 7970 has also this known issue on some of their cards and after usage given some time they have slowly dissipated away. Now bear in mind this may end up being permanent and nothing to guarantee to be temporary.

Not sure if they have a return policy that you can take advantage of for replacement within 30 days of purchase you may want to look into that if it's really bothering you that much.

I know that most of us would not be happy with coil wine and those that have to live with it during gaming do tell us that you can't hear it because the fan noise has ramped up. most of the time you have to put your ear right up to the case are open the case and listen very closely to hear.

Good luck man let us know what you ended up doing.

Yep i can hear it over the fans when playing games and even with speakers on i can hear the whining noise but obviously not as loud.

Well to rule out the motherboard and PSU i can test my rig with my mates 560Ti and my girlfriends 6770, would that be enough to confirm that's it's not my PSU or motherboard?

@Arizonian thanks for the kinds words bro, i've done like 5 RMA's on my PC so far and all I want is a nice silent PC, but it seems like I am asking for too much. I have spent over way £2000 for parts and stuff but I never seem to get what I want. After so much trying you really start breaking down =[

You'd think I work for the guy, but I can't get over how great my GPU cooler bracket from Dwood has been. They can be seen *HERE* and *HERE*. I happened to have a buddy with an Antec 620 lying around I came up on cheap, so just adding this bracket was amazing. My case is now near silent - and my load temps on my 680 are ridiculously low. I realize going full custom water would end up with better results, but at this point I am just not ready to take the plunge(pun intended).

My idles temps range from 24-28C. Highest load temps in BF3 are 49-50C, and Furmark/Heaven don't really push it much over 40-42C. This is with a single small 120mm rad and one meh fan on pull.

See my pics for reference, and take a look at the threads if you (or someone you know) has a closed loop cooler sitting around gathering dust, or you don't mind paying a little to get that 680 under water and quiet down your case! (Still cheaper than picking up a block, rad, pump, etc.)

Fair enough, like arizonian said i thought that once fans and speakers kicked in it would mask it. I've never had it myself so im just going off what others have posted in the past.
My system is pretty loud when i game and just a small Hmmm from fans when watching films... Due to fan controllers... But the Hmmm is covered by my 5.1 system so it doesn't bother me.

I'd say give the 560 a go as no need to mess around with drivers unlike trying the 6770. Not sure how much support you will get for a RMA on something like coil noise.
