Anyone else feel like the 680 is being held back by drivers? It doesn't make sense for it to be so close to the 670.

I just think that the 680 should have been a 670.

Yeah it does. The only difference between the two is a few shader cores. There is a much larger difference between GTX570 and 580, 470 and 480, and 260 and 280.

It's always been this way. The 570 was 15% to a 580. The 6950 was %15 to a 6970 and unlocked shaders equal. The 7950 to 7970 and 670 to 680 marginal as well.

The extra performance is the premium to pay for flagship and a tad bit more perfomance. Overclocked the flaghip will still top the other cards in perfomance and what your paying for to be king of the line.

Best price per perfomance card last year was 6950 this year it's the 670.

I understand that, but the 670 and the 680 are closer than the others in terms of what they can do. Considering there's even some cases where an overclocked 670 does the same as an overclocked 680. Even the VRAM amount is the same which the 470/480 and 570/580 didn't have.

They probably did it this way to make the 670 look like the best value for money so everyone would buy it, causing Nvidia to make a killing from it!

Yeah I'm pissed that my 680 OC'd as far as I can take it is getting whooped by quite a few 670s. It's just not cool at all, and I really hope a driver update sets the performance gap to be more in line with the price gap.

If NVIDIA does pull a miracle driver out for gtx 680. (Like AMD just did with there 12.7.) I'm pretty sure the 670 will get a increase as well.
