Does anyone else feel a bit of regret in having bought a 680? Apart from the fact that the 670 is very close in performance and cheaper... I guess some versions are now coming out that have voltage control (mis lightening?) but I personally feed a bit screwed over by nvidea. Mine does 1230 core, which seems average to low. Without voltage limitation and stupidly low thermal barriers these cards could probably all do 1400 core on air. But that isn't good for Nvidea's bottom line.

I guess I shouldn't really complain from a gaming perspective, as basically the only game I play atm is starcraft 2 and i get an average of 120fps with all settings on ultra (dropping to 90fps during insane combat). And looking at msi afterburner it never really uses more than 60% of the gpu for that game so i guess that is a cpu bound game. However as a tech geek i'd like control over my hardware and to tweek it to its maximum potential.

When the next best thing comes out (gtx685 or whatever it will be called) then as long as it has voltage control I think i'd be happier with Nvidea. Is it still rumored to be coming out later this year?

I'd like to sell my 680 while it still has some re-sale value and invest in an 800D with a great water cooling system that is ready for me to slap in the next best gpu from nvidea. Living in China however i'd probably only get 30% of its current value brand new. People here don't like second hand. Selling it wouldn't even net me enough money to buy a corsair 800D case.

My e-peen is very important to me.

I feel the same way... both of my Sapphire 7970 OC's clocked to just over 1200Mhz (reference is 925Mhz, second bios on these cards bump it to 1000Mhz) but due to problems with black screens and driver issues, I said the heck with it and picked up the EVGA SC Signature 2 (dual fan) setup. It doesn't overclock for crap. Comes out of the box set up for 1163Mhz boost, and that's about all she'll do. Ridiculous if you ask me since I have to struggle to get it above 60ºC. *sigh*

Yes I am glad I ditched my 680. I hate having a locked card.

Lots of talk about this issue so maybe I'm guessing CPU bottleneck so I want to know if someone with a really high end chip has this issue as well.

I don't have any issues. Mine fluctuates between 96-99 for both cards.

No, I don't regret the purchases as they get the job done for me and my setup. The most I can get out of the card is 1292mhz before it crashes and I agree with you with an unlock voltage going higher would be no problem. Stock settings run all the games I play well, so overclocking is not necessary for me, therefore no complaints here.
