Thoughts? The 4GB 670's are just about the same price as a 680, but is the extra vram a game winner here? I haven't seen reviews that match up a 4GB 670 with a 2GB 680 at 1440p+

I recently just bought a MSI Twin Frozr GTX 680 4gb model to replace my sli 480's. Yes I know it is not really an upgrade (oc'd sli 480's are slightly faster than a single 680 in many games), but the lack of noise, heat and over all mostly smoother experience is superior. I plan on selling both of my 480's and getting a 2nd 680. For now I'm using my using my Evga SSC as physx (about to play Batman Arkham City) until I re-apply some better thermal paste on my 480 with an actic accelero ii cooler.

The major hiccup here is that I can no longer disable aero and use Vsync with media player classic for smooth DVD play back w/o screen tearing, even with Vsync enabled in the Nvidia Control panel. I like using the windows 7 cycling desktop background feature with Aero disabled.

On a positive note, in games like BF3 @1440p on Ultra with my 480 dedicated to physX I'm getting around 10fps higher than with sli 480's and the experience is much, much smoother due to the lack of sli micro stutter, it's quieter and cooler too.

I haven't really OC'd the card since the default clock speed is 1174mhz, but I will. One thing that annoys me is the fact that MSI after burner shows 0 for all of the clock speed and voltage values VS the actual values.

You have to enable voltage and OC editing in the AB settings. Evga precision works on non evga cards now. Works with my Zotac 680. There is also Zotac firestorm OC tool, it's different from the one they have on there website. Let's you flash the BIOS and save the BIOS also.

Hey OCN. I got an EVGA Superclocked Signature about a month after the 680s were released. I just now have started to mess around with overclocking it and wow, I could not be more disappointed. For a card that was advertised as an overclocking card, it certainly is a complete dog when overclocking. I'm only able to get +17mhz offset on the core before it will crash, the screen goes black and the nvidia driver restarts. This occurs under all benchmarks and games. Power Target seems to be completely irrelevant as the card never ever draws more than 84% power regardless of temp, clocks or the tiny OC. I'm using EVGA precision and have the latest version. Am I doing something wrong here or do I just have a sad 680? I've seen people with vanilla cards kissing 1300mhz... my 680 won't even hit 1200mhz without crashing.
