Is it normal to get low frame rates with a stock GTX 680?

Im playing Mafia 2 maxed out and at 2560x1440 getting some dips (19-25 fps) when looking at an intersection...

could it be my CPU? AMD Phenom X6 1045T

Your non-overclocked CPU is probably bottlencking the rest of your system. Do you have all the settings maxed out including PhysX?

I just started to suspect that, My CPU is AMD Phenom X6 1045T stock speeds.
Physx is turned on to max settings, does Physx use the Video card or the CPU?

Anyone else pretty disappointed with their 680 purchase? I hadn't purchased a video card in awhile and was hoping to play games at moderate settings for about a year before upgrading, but it seems now that was a pretty stupid thought. My 680 gets absolutely pounded by games that have come out in the last few years. I'm seeing framerates in the high 20's and low 30's at 1080p with my core clock as high as it'll go (a pathetic 1179) in the following games: BF3, GW2, Metro 2033, Sleeping Dogs, NFSMW 2012, Borderlands 2, etc etc. I use minimal AA (2x) and always elect to use FXAA when available. Do most AAA titles these days require 2 cards at 1080p? I was told before buying a card that this wasn't the case, a big single should be fine. Right now, it really seems like I made bad purchase going with the GTX680. My system specs are in my sig/rig builder but everything else in my system should be up to the task of basic 1080p gaming.

Metro is crazy hard for any card to run maxed out with high fps, NFSMW 2012 is bugged as crap right now. The other games shouldn't have a problem. Mine had no issues running Sleeping dogs etc maxed.

Your GTX 680 must be broken or something i can run must of my games in 2560x1440 with a single 680 with 60 FPS or higher without any problems.
Wargame european escalation is the only game i have that i cant max out

Just wanted an opinion guys, currently have a evga 680 sc & finally saw the asus 680 DCII top for sale...wondering if it would be worth it to cop the DCII & sell my SC. Would it be a benefit for surround or should I just wait for the next card releases?

Mafia 2 can be very demanding maxed out, especially at 1440p. Also your stock CPU is probably holding it back a little. In the Nvidia control panel, if you haven't adjusted any of the settings and it's at default, then auto select for Physx is what it should show. But that just means it will use the video card.
